There have been a bunch of new ports used for different devices – HDMI 2.0, Thunderbolt, Lighting to name a few, and they are all made by different manufacturer for different purposes.
For the past couple of years however, the Apple MacBook, has come up with a only a single port feature which has got lot of people talking about it – the new USB Type C port.
Here are the key features of USB C that make it the hottest new connection and charging standard.
1. USB-C can carry more power
USB Type C can supply a lot of power from both the ends. It can pass power up to 20 volts or 100 watts which is enough to charge any computer devices and will be left with enough juice to charge other devices.
Unlike every USB cables you ever used, they never seemed to connect the right side up the first time; the USB Type C fits right in either orientation.
3. Backward compatible
USB Type C can facilitate a variety of different protocols such as HDMI, VGA, Display port or others of connection from that single USB port. No need for a variety of cables for a variety of reasons.
4. Transfer speed
USB Type C is compatible with up to 10Gbps of data transfer rates which mean much faster transmission capacity. This could be a big sell out for most users.
5. Software support
Most of the major software giants – Linux, windows 10, OS X Yosemite and Android Marshmallow have witnessed widespread adoption of the new USB Type C on all their devices.
