Cupertino-based tech giant, Apple has finally dropped the bomb by releasing a media invite for its Special Event scheduled on September 7, 2016. This invite comes with a Bokeh background and a cryptic message that says, “See you on the 7th.” This confirms that the next iPhone will indeed be called iPhone 7 and not iPhone 6 SE as suggested by several leaked images and rumors floating around. It goes without saying that Apple iPhones have always been most anticipated handset every year and iPhone 7 is no exception, which is evident from the amount of hype it has generated. This year it is being speculated that the brand will be launching the usual iPhone 7 and its Plus variant along with a new iPhone 7 Pro. The latter is expected to come with a dual camera setup on its rear panel. Here let’s take a look at all bits of information surrounding upcoming devices.
This year around, Apple is expected to launch three new models of iPhone viz. iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 Pro. While Apple iPhone 7 will feature the regular 4.7-inch Retina display, remaining two will come with the bigger 5.5-inch unit. This is something new for the brand as it usually launches only two devices in a year. Another school of thought believes that this year too there will only be two launches except that iPhone 7 Plus would be replaced with iPhone 7 Pro. Apple might also ditch the 16 GB base variant for the 32 GB and introduce a 256 GB variant at the high end of the spectrum, which is more practical approach as 16 GB does not cut it anymore.
Yet another interesting speculation this year is regarding two new colors to be introduced by Apple. Last year, Apple came out with a Rose Gold variant of iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, which was received very well by Apple lovers around the world. Buoyed by the success of the same, Apple is speculated to have come up with an all black and dark blue variant of iPhone this year, which are expected to be quite sleek and premium looking. Apple is also said to have completely overhauled the whole design of iPhone as well, with antennae lines on the rear panel being pushed to top and bottom edge. If these rumors are indeed true, iPhone 7 is going to be the cleanest and most attractive device till date in Apple’s lineup.
One more major design change that we might see this year is the exclusion of 3.5mm audio jack and lightning port being used for the same purpose, which means iPhone 7 might be slimmer than its predecessors. This is a good news for those who adore iPhones for their sleek and slim profile, it just got slimmer. Furthermore, Apple CEO, Tim Cook has also assured that the upcoming iPhone would leave every existing user feel the need to upgrade. Apple would certainly hope so since it recorded its first ever loss in first quarter of 2016, in more than a decade. At this point in time, this is all that is known about the upcoming handset and all we can do is to wait for the Special Event to lay our eyes on it.
