The current flagship phone of HTC and the successor to the HTC 10, called the HTC U11 was recently announced. Fun fact: the U in U11 signifies the user’s reflection on the sleek glass unibody design of the phone. Now, HTC may be working on a smaller version of the U11 called as the HTC U11 mini.
HTC U11 Mini: Spec Sheet
The 5.5-inch display could be a bit big for users who prefer a sub 5-inch form factor. The U11 mini will therefore see a reduction on all proportions. According to leaks, the U11 Mini is supposed to be powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset.
But the reduction would not be huge. The device will sport a 5.2-inch 1080p display, and will be powered by a 2600mAh battery. It will have a 16MP rear as well as front camera and will retain Bluetooth 5.0 from the U11. The U11 Mini is expected to sport a 16MP rear and front camera.
The smartphone will be running Sense 9.0 built on top of Android Nougat 7.1.1. The best part about the U11 Mini is that it will reportedly retain two features that make the U11 unique – the squeezable ‘Edge Sense’ feature and the audio enhancing HTC U Sonic. Running HTC Edge Sense user interface based on Android 7.1 Nougat, the U11 comes with 8 sensors on the side bezels to register the squeezes.
This could prove to be a big step for HTC who is falling behind on the smartphone market, as Chinese counterparts have taken a stronger foothold in the Indian market.
As of yet, the HTC U11 mini remains a rumour. HTC has confirmed nothing from its side. If it were to launch though, would you consider giving in your current device for it?
