It’s common knowledge that Huawei has been preparing to launch the worlds first phone with three cameras. But these devices will not be launching at the MWC as rumoured earlier, but at a private event in March in Paris.
Huawei’s P series has been very popular – especially amongst those who prefer camera photography. Now the P10 launched last year received good reviews for ithe Leica camera it had incorporated. It would then seem that Huawei has no reason to let go of Leica in their products.
Last year, it was also the Huawei Mate 10 which scored a DxO mark rating of 99, thanks to its dual-camera system from Leica. Though leaks and render currently are a bit unreliable, the tri-camera system being introduced in the P11 or the P20 is also said to be manufactured by Leica.
Design & Camera
According to the images and renders that have come out, the cameras look to be aligned vertically with a dual-LED flash. This flash is present at the bottom of the three cameras. The fingerprint sensor also lies on the front side of the smartphone.
Previous leaks and renders have also suggested that the phone might come with 40 MP resolution and 5X optical zoom along with smart AI recognition capabilities and several other new features designed only for the camera-heads in the world. We can expect that the phone will be featuring very heavily on the DxO mark website.
Some reports from earlier articles have stated that smartphone will have at least three variants – which are the Huawei P11/P20, a P11/P20 Plus, and a P11/P20 Lite. As a matter of fact, the alleged Huawei P11/P20 Pro is expected to have an iPhone X like the notch on the top, which would mean that there are chances that the phone might support FaceID like authentication features.
The Huawei P20 has been code-named as “Emily” and is expected to be available in Ceramic Black and also Twilight colour options. Also, the alleged P20 Plus which has been given the code-name “Charlotte” will be launched in the Ceramic Black and Twilight colour options. Other reports have suggested that the P20 Lite has been given the code-name “Anne”, is expected to come in like three colours which would also include the exclusive Sakura Pink colour option.
Under the hood, we are expected find a HiSilicon 970 chipset on all the models. All the phone models are also tipped to have atleast 4 GB of RAM. The Pro model may have upto 8 GB of RAM and the Lite model may have only the single 4GB variant. The phones are expected to come with Android 8,0 with Huawei’s custom EMUI skin overlying it. The phone is set to give tough competition to the camera phones such as the iPhone X and Pixel 2.
