Finally September 7 came and went, which saw Apple take the wraps off its newest flagships iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Most rumours related to these devices have been accurate and we were not that surprised. But holly molly! Do they look good or do they not? The Jet Black edition of these new handsets took some of us early Apple users back to iPhone 3G days, which was the first handset to sport the same glossy deign albeit with a stainless steel trimming. The new Jet Black variant is all black though and looks a stunner. Beside this, Apple launched a matte black variant as well along with the usual Silver, Gold and Rose Gold variants. Another major change was Apple dropping 16 and 64 GB variants, so this year we have iPhone 7 and 7 Plus starting from 32 GB to 256 GB. Apple has also cleaned the design a bit and now the antenna lines on the back have been pushed to top and bottom edges, which give them a cleaner look. Having said all this, this year’s iPhone 7 Plus actually packs some better features except for just a bigger display and battery. Here is why you should spend a little more to get the iPhone 7 Plus.
iPhone 7 Plus has dual camera
iPhone 7 Plus has carried over last year’s 12 megapixels snapper from iPhone 6s, however, the bulge is more aesthetic this time around. On the other hand, iPhone 7 Plus has a dual-camera setup on its rear panel where one is the regular 12 Megapixels iSight camera and second one is the same 12 Megapixels module albeit a telephoto lens. What this means is that iPhone 7 Plus can offer 2X optical zoom and 10x digital zoom while clicking pictures. Another added benefit is that iPhone 7 Plus users will be able to capture artistic Bokeh images, which is not possible for iPhone 7. If you are a photography enthusiast and getting an iPhone for its camera, 7 Plus should be your choice.
iPhone 7 Plus has bigger display
The display size for these devices have been retained from their last year predecessors as iPhone 7 comes with a 4.7-inch and iPhone 7 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch display. While the display of iPhone 7 Plus is noticeably a lot bigger than iPhone 7, main difference is in the resolution. iPhone 7 comes with the standard resolution of 1334 x 750 pixel, whereas, iPhone 7 Plus has 1920 x 1080 pixels, which is like day and night. The difference in pixel density makes 7 Plus much better device in terms of display sharpness and contrast.
iPhone 7 Plus has more RAM
This time around, Apple has launched its flagship devices with A10 processor, which is the first ever Quad-core processor on any Apple device. However, iPhone 7 comes with the same amount of RAM as iPhone 6s and 6s Plus viz. 2 GB. Even with dual core A9 processor and 2 GB RAM, last year’s devices were the fastest in the market so we can only imagine how fast iPhone 7 and 7 Plus would be with the Quad-core processors. The icing on the cake for the latter is that it comes with 3 GB of RAM instead of 2, which further boosts the performance. Therefore, if you are looking for a superman of a device then 7 Plus is the one.
iPhone 7 Plus has larger battery
Apple has also equipped iPhone 7 and 7 Plus with a larger battery then the last year, which is a welcome change for many. iPhone 7 boasts of a 1960 mAh battery, which might see you through the course of a day. On the other hand, the bigger chassis of 7 Plus allowed Apple to insert a massive 2900 mAh battery under the rear panel. Together with the harmony between hardware and software, this battery should see through 2 days atleast on moderate usage.
Apart from these features, both iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are almost identical in their specifications and should deliver similar experience. However, the additional features on iPhone 7 Plus should also command a premium of INR 10,000 – 12,000 over iPhone 7.
