If you are an ardent Apple fan then this year is probably what you’ve been waiting for. 2017 marks the 10 year anniversary of the iPhone. That is why a lot of Apple fans believe that the launch of iPhone 8 is going to be the grandest and there are huge expectations surrounding the phone to be a revolutionary product.
There has been a rumour going around the block that Apple is testing 10 prototype models of iPhone 8. Rumour has it that this year the iPhone will have a major redesign.
Screen and Display
Initially, there were a lot of people claiming that the iPhone 8 is bound to have a curved, 5.8” OLED screen with an edge-to-edge display. But later a prominent Apple analyst cleared the air by saying that the entire phone will use a flat display on all its models.
Another big rumour coming in was related to the Touch ID lock. There was discussion on the phone having in-built touch display – which means there won’t be a home button. Another side to this claim said that the fingerprint sensor will be placed at the back of the phone.
As far as the body of the iPhone 8 is concerned, rumours hint that Apple is saying goodbye to the aluminum body. The glass body of iPhone 4 could be improvised and brought in again this time. The glass is believed to be built around a stainless steel frame.
Regarding the camera, there are talks of one of the models to feature a vertical dual camera. All models are believed to have a dual-lens camera with optical image stabilization. The front camera is believed to have 3D sensing capabilities allowing the camera to find the location and depths of the object in front of it to enable facial and iris recognition.
There are several other big features said to be in the phone too. It is rumored to be water resistant (improved from iPhone 7). And biometric additions like facial, iris or gesture recognition are also believed to be present among the diverse features. And a surprise feature here could be wireless charging but there isn’t much information on it as of yet.
On April 7, 2017 there was an apparent schematic of the iPhone 8 leaked online which was revealing the all-screen front of the phone. Apple made no comments on it adding to everyone’s curiosity on the credibility of the schematic.
What you can be absolutely sure of is that the iPhone 8 will be released around the month of September this year. The final date is expected to be revealed soon as the anticipation of Apple fans is already at the peak.
So will the rumours surrounding the Apple iPhone 8 be true? Only time and Apple will tell.
