The successor to last year’s bezel less Xiaomi bezel less phone – the Mi Mix 2, has been announced. Interestingly, it will be launched on the same date as the Apple iPhone 8, which is on September 12, 2017. The name of the phone is, unsurprisingly, the Mi Mix 2 and it looks like this move is intended to take the fight to Apple.
Apple is looking to unveil its very first bezel-less smartphone and looks like Xiaomi is in it to steal some of the thunder with their very own bezel-less phone.
Leaked images surfacing from all around the internet have been pointing to the breathtaking design of the Mi Mix 2 which seems to have taken after the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or S8 Plus. The images reveal a look at the front of the phone and also that of the back which seemed to reveal a ceramic-like material on the back with two cut-outs. There is also rumors of an inclusion of dual-camera setup.
Back in March rumors had it that Mi Mix 2 will come will sport an AMOLED display covering around 93 percent of the front part of the device, an increment from the previous models 91.3 percent last year. This would mean Mi Mix 2 would have thinner bezels than the first phone.
Social media platform Weibo announced the official launch and Xiaomi India Vice President Manu Kumar Jain had shared a photo of the Mi Mix 2 on his personal Twitter handle, hinting that the phone might be available to Indian audience this year.
