Moto Z was perhaps first of kinds smartphone to harness something techy for every occasion. Right from camera to speakers and other Moto Mods, the phone did take us by surprise. Come 2017, Motorola has taken another shot with its Z play flagship phones by releasing its next version, and here’s what it looks like.
Moto Z2 comes in two variants of 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage, and 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage; with only the former being launched in Indian market. The good news is that the phone supports dual-sim, and Motorola might soon release its lower version as well.
With a host of features & mods that come along with the unique Moto Z2 Play, nothing would have justified better than a 5.5-inch full-HD with Super AMOLED display. Quite a balance between the size-to-weight ratio when attached to the mods.
On top of the screen lies the Corning Gorilla Glass 3, protecting the screen’s sensitive configuration of 401ppi pixel density.
Z2 Play is powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor paired with its 4GB RAM, only to boost your Android experience with Nougat 7.1.1.
Treating Z2 as an excellent opportunity, Motorola has tried to do more with every section, including the Storage space, which runs out more quickly these days. The Motorola Z2 fashions a 64GB inbuilt storage, that can be further expanded to up to 2TB via microSD cards; with separate slots for SIM and SD cards.
Hasselblad is one of the earliest and lesser known camera makers in the world, with projects expanding to moon missions. So you can only imagine the type of clarity we can expect with this Moto Mod.
Until the Mods are released for Z2 play, camera lovers can absolutely rely on its 12-megapixel rear camera that comes with f/1.7 aperture.
To the front, there is a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens to capture those perfect selfies. And of course, with the ever growing selfie trend, Motorola assures its customers with f/2.2 aperture and a dual-LED flash.
With its launch, the crowd soon began judging Z2 Play for a slightly lower pack of 3000mAh battery, in comparison to its predecessor’s 3510mAh. But, Lenovo, now the owner of Motorola claims its newer chipset will swiftly compensate for the numbers.
Pacing up with the Dash-charging technology, Motorola has also introduced a TurboPower charger that can get you 50% charge in 30 minutes. While the battery itself is tested to deliver 30 hours of mixed usage on a single charge.
Moto Z2 opens a host of connectivity & sensor options that are available in the market, with connectivity features like:
- 4G VoLTE,
- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/b/n (2.4GHz and 5GHz),
- Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C (3.1),
- 3.5mm headphone jack,
- GPS/ A-GPS.
Onboard sensors include:
- Ambient light sensor,
- Magnetometer, and
- Proximity sensor.
Moto Z2 Play has been priced at Rs. 27,999 with a free Moto Armor pack for pre-booking customers. Its protective accessories include aluminum casing, back shell, selfie-stick, and protective film.

100GB of additional 4G data is being offered to every customer, in association with Reliance Jio, and is even valid for customers who don’t pre-book.
Damn, Moto is rolling in with so much to offer and easier modes to pay, it gets tempting even if you were not planning to buy a phone.
