There seem to be a plethora of phones that seem to be launching in June this year. Many notable names that include Xiaomi, Motorola and Vivo are in line to unveil new devices in the mid-range category. With the segment already crowded with many players which include, Huawei, Honor, Nokia, and Asus, it would seem that the mid-segment audience will soon have too many options to consider while choosing the correct smartphone.
Let’s have a look at some of the major smartphone launches that are expected in June.
Xiaomi Redmi S2/ Redmi Y2
Though nothing is certain at the moment, but it could very well seem that Xiaomi is in the process of launching the Redmi S2 in India, after already having launched the device in China back in May.
Media invites for the launch have been sent to news outlets, and it would seem that the phone is going to have a great camera. This further fuels the Redmi S2 rumours as the phone has been marketed in China as a phone with a great camera.
The other part of the rumour is that the phone could very well be rebranded as the Redmi Y2, a successor of the Redmi Y1, which was a phone with a great selfie camera. As of right now, all this is speculation and we shall know more about the device when the phone launches on June 7.
As far as the pricing goes it would seem that the phone should be priced around the Rs 13,000 mark as was seen in the Redmi Y2.
Lenovo, which owns the Moto brand is all set to launch the Moto G6 on 4th June. The 18:9, 5.7-inch IPS LCD display on the G6 is taller than on the Moto G5, with the resolution up from from FHD to FHD+. It charges via USB-C, and even comes with a headphone jack, which, whilst its disappearing on flagships, has shown no sign of going away at this price range. The smartphone would also be exclusive to Flipkart and Amazon.
Now with a dual sensor camera, the The Moto G6 was launched in China under the brand name Moto S1, and was available for a price tag of CNY 1,500 – which is approximately around Rs 15,000. At the price point, Moto will certainly face a lot of competition from Xiaomi and other Chinese smartphone makers such as Vivo and Oppo (which recently launched the F7).
Moto G6 Play
The Moto G6 Play will be a cheaper variant of the Moto G6, set to launch on the same day as the Moto G6. The only difference would be in the screen size and storage variants. The G6 Play also recently leaked with a Snapdragon 660 processor on board. Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming launch on June 4 for all the information about the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play, which is expected to be priced at Rs 25,000 at launch.
Apart from this, it would seem that Vivo could also be launching the Vivo X21 smartphone which has an inbuilt fingerprint sensor in India. However, no details on the pricing are confirmed as of now, and we’re still relying on the rumour mills.
