NOKIA, the king of the mobile industry of the past decade was lost somewhere with the rise of Android and iOS on the other hand. The last five years have been terrible for the company which saw the company being sold to MICROSOFT and even, Microsoft’s attempt to revive the brand went in vain. But after so many years, NOKIA is back in the news again and probably this time for good. The wait for Nokia lovers is finally over as the Nokia is returning to the smartphone market once again.
HMD Global (which currently owns Nokia) has just announced the rebirth of Nokia phones launched as Nokia 6. This came out of the blue as the company had not shown any such intents previously. Nonetheless, this is a pretty exciting news.
The Nokia 6 has been launched in CHINA and from the first looks, it seems promising (well, at least for the mid-range market). Unlike the numerous occasions before, this Nokia device is finally launched with the Android OS, running on Android 7.0 out of the box. It sports a 5.5-inch full-HD display and is powered by a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Processor. The device also packs a 4GB RAM coupled with 64 GB of internal storage. On the rear, the device sports a 16-MP shooter with phase detection auto-focus and the ‘NOKIA’ logo. The front camera is limited to 8-MP only for this device. Dual amplifiers associated with the device promise to deliver louder and better sounds and there has also been the mention of Dolby Atmos support for the Nokia 6, though we are skeptical how effective it would be.
The material of the body is what catches our attention. HMD claims that the body is made from 6000 series Aluminum and it is double anodized and polished five times to get the unique aesthetics and feel. A rectangular fingerprint scanner sits on the front of the device, at the bottom. However, there is absolutely no mention of its level of responsiveness as of yet. The device as a whole precisely looks like the ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Note 7 but we are hoping it won’t share the similar fate like the former.
Nokia 6 has been launched only in CHINA through an exclusive partnership with the online retail giant JD.com. HMD Global is apparently in no hurry to market their new product globally as they haven’t indicated any probable dates of the launch outside CHINA. This is justifiable as the brand NOKIA had been facing a lot of hiccups in keeping up with other competitors. HMD probably wants to analyze how the customers respond to the new device before making plans to spread to other countries.
The device is priced at 1,699 CNY which comes around approximate $250. It is bound to face tough competition from the likes of Samsung, Motorola, ASUS and other manufacturers. But, it is probably a good idea that the company decided to go for the mid-range market instead of aiming at the high-end. As for us, we hope that NOKIA lives up to its expectations and delivers a wonderful smartphone experience to the users yet again. There is still a lot of mystery surrounding this phone and we hope to unearth as soon as we can. Stay tuned for more such technological news from Cashify.
