The OnePlus 6 is one of the most hotly anticipated devices of the year. The phone has been pretty much all leaked in the teasers that OnePlus has been dropping nearly every day, and the renders that have also been popping up regularly.
Global Launch: 16 May
OnePlus 6 is set for a global launch in London 16 May. On 17 May it will launch in India at an event in Mumbai. We know quite a lot about the phone already. For instance, OnePlus is following the design trend of the year and introducing a notched display. However, this notch will be significantly smaller than the one seen on the iPhone X.
The phone has been given the slogan – the speed you need. That being said OnePlus will be bringing in the Snapdragon 845 chipset on the OnePlus 6. To recall the Samsung S9, Xperia XZ2, ZenFone 5 and the MI MIx 2S are the current devices which house the 845 chipset. HTC’s U12 Plus and Xiaomi’s Mi 7 will be next in line to get the chipset.
Apart from that, OnePlus is also bringing in massive 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variant. The phone will have a rear placed fingerprint sensor and vertically aligned dual-cameras as well. The phone can be considered to be a copy of the Galaxy S9 from the back. The phone will be keeping the headphone jack and it will also have a dual-speaker support.
From what we could make out from the tweets by OnePlus, the phone could also be coming with a super slow-mo mode and also have a waterproof design. In that sense, it has been a long time coming for OnePlus to make its devices water resistant.
Next up we are made aware that the phone will have very minimalistic bezels on the bottom. The reason you cannot have zero bezels at the bottom is because that would require a curved OLED panel which would attach to the circuit board at the phone’s back. This would make it quite expensive indeed.
OnePlus also tweeted out that the phone will now have the alert slider in the opposite side as compared to all other OnePlus devices. It will now sit above the power button. Apart from this in a tweet Amitabh Bachchan, who is the brand ambassador of OnePlus, showed us the two colours of the OnePlus 6 which are Black and White. OnePlus 6 will also have a special Avengers Infinity War edition phone, which will go on pre-order from May 17.
The price of the OnePlus was accidentally revealed while it was listed on HDFC’s website. We were made aware that the phone would start at a price of RS 39,999. Though this price tag has not officially been confirmed, but we can be sure that with all the new features that are in tow, the OnePlus 6 this year will be expensive.
