The dimensions of this new phone are 154.2 x 74.1 x 7.3 mm (i.e. 6.07 x 2.92 x 0.29 in), weighing 153 grams. It’s obviously got multitouch, with a ceramic fingerprint sensor. Available in midnight black or slate grey colors, it is protected with corning Gorilla Glass 5, sligthly curved at the edges.
The phone is dual camera-equipped– one 16 MP and another 20 MP, with electronic image stabilization. The OnePlus 5’s camera is receiving considerable hype owing to its superior image reproduction quality. We’ll know more soon with in depth reviews.
The 6 GB RAM variant will set you back by Rs 32,999, while the 8 GB RAM edition costs Rs 37,999. Is it more expensive than previous Oneplus phones? Clearly.
There are no memory card slots, although the internal storages vary from 64 GB, 6 GB RAM or 128 GB, 8 GB RAM, for slate grey and midnight black respectively.
The phone comes with a Qualcomm processor – the latest 2.4GHz Snapdragon 835. OnePlus claims the 3,300mAh non-removable battery will last about 20% longer than the previous edition.
The OnePlus 5 runs OxygenOS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
This phone brings back the Dash Charge boon. OnePlus announced it in style – posting two videos, comparing it with the Samsung Galaxy S8 charging in two different scenarios. The results obviously go in their favor. Moreover, OnePlus claims to offer “a full day of power in half an hour”.
#OnePlus 5 Verdict
The phone looks very promising on many grounds. Having said that, it no longer is the super-affordable ‘flagship killer’ OnePlus phones used to be. Whether it’ll manage to offer the same value remains to be seen!
