Oppo and Vivo are a couple of the most prominent brands in the mid-range smartphone segment. The Chinese smartphone makers have made quite a name for themselves in the industry selling phones with good camera quality and decent performance as compared to other brands such Motorola or Nokia or Micromax.
However, that does not absolve them of the sin of copying every iPhone product launched each year. As such, Apple made a revolutionary change to the design of their flagship product and removed the home button that had been there since Day 1. The resulting device had a big notch on the top to accommodate the nearly bezel-less design of the device.
Depending on your preference you could either hate the notch or love it. Oppo, Vivo and from the looks of it, even OnePlus are choosing to love it. Vivo has already announced its notched Vivo V9 smartphone and Oppo being the sister company of Vivo had to follow suit. Incidentally, Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus are owned by the same company so it is no wonder that all of them have nearly the same design language.
Enter the Oppo F7. The Oppo device is priced at Rs 21,990 for the 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant, and the 128 GB version which has 6 GB RAM, has been priced at Rs 26,990. The phone has a big screen display, thanks to the 19.5:9 aspect ratio of the device and the notch on the top sits as an ominous presence.
As far as software goes, Oppo, as usual, has opted out of a stock Android offering and instead has its usual Color OS overlaying Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone also features a 3,400 mAh battery which the company claims can last you for more than 10 hours of continuous usage. The phone has an inbuilt face unlock option and if that’s not your preference you can use its fingerprint sensor as well.
Coming to the hardware, the F7 has an Octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset under which there are four Cortex A73 cores clocked at 2 GHz along with four Cortex A53 cores also clocked at 2 GHz. In terms of the GPU, we see that the F7 has a Mali-G72MP3 alongside 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM alongside, 64 GB and 128 GB of internal storage.
The camera is where Oppo has to take the cake, especially its selfie camera. The smartphone has a 25 MP camera in front and Oppo has made a number of software tweaks available on the device. All of the artificial intelligence capabilities like AI Beauty Technology 2.0, AI selfie, and also real-time HDR modes are available in the camera. On the back, we see that Oppo F7 has a 16 MP camera with a f/2.0 aperture. The camera is capable of shooting in 4K video and also has dual-tone LED flash.
So, does that make you crave the latest Oppo offering? Don’t hold yourself back, go and grab it, by all means. What’s more interesting is, you can sell your old phone on Cashify while you’re at it and make a smart upgrade to the F7.
