Republic TV to Launch Virtual Reality News

How cool does the concept of virtual Reality news sound to you? Yes, you heard it right – virtual reality news. Arnab Goswami, Editor at Republic TV, has announced the launch of virtual reality news. A fresh concept, one of its kind, it was announced at the Melt 2017 conference. Goswami said “The new technology will enable viewers to experience the on-ground situation as our reporters bring stories to them.”

First Time Ever

Goswami claims that this technology has never been tested before. Arnab Goswami has a distinct division for this purpose – the Republic World Digital Platform. The concept behind this is the creation of a three dimensional area in which users can interact with the virtual world in a manner similar to way they do in the real world. This can be done by the use of gear fitted with sensors and all other necessary sensing technology which would simulate reality.

Republic TV COO, Jay Chauhan added,”Our VR content will be available on RepublicWorld.com, as a new stream and our newly constituted VR Cell built in collaboration with experts from across the globe will begin rolling out amazing VR content in the weeks ahead.”

Ecosystem Support

The availability of VR headsets from various manufacturers, Google, Sony, HTC, Samsung etc will enable this technology to function smoothly. It will take the journalism to a complete new level and help developers monetise the benefits. You’ll also need a 4G connection though.

With technology touching new summits, year by year, lets wait for what Arnab Goswami has in store for us.
