If you were to mention any other device in the tablet segment other than the iPad, then most likely you will land on the Galaxy Tab series. While Apple’s iPad happens to have eaten nearly the entirety of the tablet segment, it would seem that Galaxy tabs are still selling enough to keep Samsung invested in the lineup.
To that end, newcomers to the tablet market such as Xiaomi or Lenovo have had fewer profits in the tablet segment. Samsung is the only one who is keeping the Android tablet flame somewhat lit. It is widely believed that Samsung could unveil the Tab S4 at its Unpacked event on 9th August where it is going to launch the Note 9.
The tablet was quite recently spotted at the US certification website FCC wherein it was registered under the model number SM-T835 model number and the documents attached to it had confirmed that the device will most likely come with LTE.
More recently however, we have some renders surfacing on the internet which will tell us more about the tablet’s design elements. The images are courtesy of Android Headlines and were given by an anonymous source. The images show that the tablet has what quite thin bezels and there is also a lack of a fingerprint scanner, on the back or the front of the device.
On the back of the device we can see that there is only a single camera setup at the back. No fingerprint scanner could mean that the device has to be unlocked the old fashioned way using the security code or through the trademark Samsung way which is using the retina scanner.
We can also take some guesses about the hardware inside the device. It can be assumed that the Tab S4 will come with the Snapdragon 835 chipset along with 4 GB RAM/64 GB storage variant. The screen size of the device as it appears in the renders looks to be somewhere in the range of 10-10.5 inches. That would put the resolution of the device at somewhere 2560×1600 pixels.
Other features that are rumoured include the optics of the tablet. The Tab S4 is believed to have a 12 MP rear and a 7 MP front shooter. There is also going to be a selfie flash on the device.
Also, it is quite heavily rumoured that the tab S4 could have a massive 7,300 mAh capacity which can easily power the tablet for more than two days. The Tab S4 will most certainly be running on Android Oreo 8.1. The recently announced support for Samsung DeX is also believed to be included in the Tab S4. The tablet is rumoured to cost somewhere around the Rs 40,000 mark and is very likely competing with the iPad Pro.
