The much awaited Samsung S7 processors are expected to be launched finally in the next month. The processors powering the device will be of two types namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 processor. These will also vary according to the region.
The Exynos Galaxy S7 is identified with the model number SM-G930W8 and the Snapdragon 820 version is listed with the model number SM-G930A. The new Samsung Galaxy S7 comes with a 5.1-inch display and a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The handset has an amazing storage capacity of 4 GB data and a choice of 32 GB or 64 GB of storage in addition to Microsoft card slot for expansion.
Samsung S7 will be equipped with 5MP front camera & 12MP rear camera & this latest product of Samsung will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. In other words, it is a new Galaxy S6 edge phone with the same specifications, but with a curved display. Samsung will also be setting up a mobile world congress and the handsets will be launched in the stores by 2nd week of March.
On the other hand, two distinguishable processors seemingly power the upcoming Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge and the benchmarks for the processors are already out. The success of these processors depends majorly on the market in which the S7 will be launched. Snapdragon 820 models are for the North American regions and Exynos 8890 models are for Asian regions.
For Samsung phones, the processors should be similar with both A9 chips but Samsung & TSMC manufacture them. Some testers claimed that TSMC has scored well on tests than the Samsung chips, despite the fact that they offer the same performance.
As far as benchmark scores are concerned, the Snapdragon 820 loses when compared to the Exynos 8890 as Snapdragon has only 4 cores & Samsung has 8 cores. In Geekbench 3, Samsung’s chip scored 5946 while Snapdragon scores 4979 in multicore testing. The results vary under single core testing. The Snapdragon outperforms with a score of 2,282, over the Exynos’ score of 1873.
A new testing indicates that the Samsung Exynos 8890 chip is superior to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip in some tests and inferior in others and hence, it takes the highest priority.
