The smartphone juggernaut keeps going. The month of August witnessed a bunch of smartphone launches from some major brands. September will be no different. The California tech giant Apple might present the second generation of their ‘budget’ device – the iPhone SE 2. The 4-inch device gained much popularity when it was initially launched due to it being a cheap device (by Apple standards). The SE 2 is believed of having a design similar to that of iPhone X. There are many rumors tossing around about the device of having an A10 Fusion chipset. Renders of the iPhone SE 2 also suggest a glass back with a single camera set-up.
The launch of this device might happen late-September, with an estimated price of Rs 39,999. It is expected that India will be one of the first few countries where the Apple iPhone SE 2 goes on sale. Taking advantage of the ‘make in India’ campaign, the iPhone SE 2 will be manufactured in India at it’s Bangalore manufacturing plant.
Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi is all set to release its flagship device – the Mi8 – in India according to digivamp, by mid-September. Mi8 has all the high-end specs that you would expect from a premium device – top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, coupled with up to 8gb of RAM. Just like the iPhone X, the Mi8 will feature a 3D facial recognition tech on its notch. As far as cameras are concerned there’s a dual camera set-up with AI feature which allows you to recognize over 200 scenes, including 12 different portrait modes. Pricing for the Indian market is expected to be under 30k.
A new Redmi device also received FCC certificate although it doesn’t reveal much about the smartphone, it is believed that this is might be the Redmi 6 Pro, along with its closer cousin – the Redmi Note 6. Expected to launch on 5 September, the Note 6 should be priced around Rs. 7,999 for the 3GB RAM/32GB variant and Rs. 9,499 for the 3GB RAM/64GB model.
The 6 Pro meanwhile, should launch at Rs 10,999 for the 3GB+32GB and 12,999 for the 4GB+64GB model. It should be running the Snapdragon 625 processor.
HMD Global recently revealed their its device – the Nokia 5.1 Plus – the same phone was released in China last month as the Nokia X5. The Nokia 5.1 Plus is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 processor – the same chip as seen on Realme 1 which sells at the starting price of 11k. It will be interesting to see what will the pricing be for this one by Nokia. This phone will be exclusively sold on Flipkart and Nokia’s website, at an estimated price of Rs 12,499, in September.
The Chinese manufacturer is set to unveil the Vivo 11 Pro in India, with a confirmed launch date of September 6. The company has started teasing the smartphone on its social media accounts. A listing on Amazon India reveals key specs for this device such as an in-display FP scanner, Halo Full-View display, dual rear cameras with AI and Quick Charge. Former senior executive of Oppo, Sky Li recently announced that he is leaving Oppo and will be focusing on the Realme brand. The Realme 1 gained recognition due to its unique ‘style’. Realme is all set to unveil its upcoming phone the Realme 2. As far as specs are concerned Snapdragon SoC is expected with a notch display and dual set of cameras. The phone will be a Flipkart exclusive, and may release just before September – on August 28th.
The world’s second largest smartphone maker Huawei is gearing up for the launch of its upcoming phone the Huawei Mate 20. Rumors suggest a 6.9inch screen with an OLED panel. Under the hood, the Mate 20 will be powered by Kirin 980 chip built with the 7nm FinFET manufacturing process. Camera set-up is expected to be similar as seen on P20 Pro. 91mobiles estimates its release date as September 25th.
Motorola’s latest in the G6 series – the G6 Plus, is slated for a launch in the first half. Adding to the other devices in the G6 series (the G6 and G6 Play), it is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 630 SoC on a 5.93-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160) display. It also packs in a decent 4 GB of RAM. You should be able to grab it for between Rs 14,000 to Rs 16,000.
