Vivo NEX is undoubtedly one of the most innovative products that have come out of the Vivo stable. As a matter of fact, it could very well be the most innovative phone in the world apart from the Oppo Find X.
Vivo had launched the NEX device back in China in two variants. The USP of the device happens to be the rising pop-out selfie camera which gives the phone an unprecedented 91.24 percent screen-to-body ratio which is still unheard of in mobile phones.
This has made the viewing experience on the phone an absolute joy. Vivo has now launched the NEX in India for a price of Rs 44,990 and there is only one 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage version available in India. For the most part, the NEX happens to be a very groundbreaking phone with some very bold choices.
The mechanical pop-out camera has been quite a success to watch. But will really hold out in the long run? We can only guess. Since the phone has a mechanical part there is a big chance of it getting broken down in the future. However, Vivo has made the NEX camera quite durable and in a video, they released about the strength of the pop-out camera it would seem that it will not easily come off.
Another thing that is remarkable is the fact that the NEX also has an in-display fingerprint sensor which will be activated on the slightest of touches. Instead of using a capacitive touchpad, the NEX actually has a display sensor that is placed underneath the screen. This sensor will then blast light on your registered finger to illuminate the ridges and patterns on your finger for authentication.
In the hardware section, we see that the device has the top of the line Snapdragon 845 processor which as mentioned earlier is coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal strorage. These can be considered as pretty enticing options even though there is no option to extend your storage.
On the camera front we see that the phone has a 12MP camera which comes with 4 axis OIS and also a f/1.7 aperture along with the secondary camera which has a 5 MP secondary sensor which can be used only for depth sensing. The pop-out camera happens to be an 8 MP sensor with a fixed focus and a f/2.2 aperture.
On the battery front we have a 4,000 mAh battery which is more than capable of giving you a day’s battery with only an half an hour of charge. The phone comes with Android 8.1 Oreo along with FunTouch UI overlaying it.
