The Indian market and the Chinese market as well have been taken by a storm of Xiaomi devices that have seemingly appeared out of nowhere. The company, which was nearly non-existent about 6 years ago has today become the biggest smartphone vendor in India, and occupies the 4th spot in China as well.
So when we hear of a Xiaomi phone being launched or a render being spotted on the internet, it is always very exciting news. As such, Xiaomi had announced the Mi 5X in China last year and in India, fans were waiting when the phone would be launched. It turned out that Xiaomi didn’t end up launching the 5X in India, however, they launched an exact replica of the device and branded it as Mi A1.
The main USP that defined the Mi A1 was that it was part of the Android One program and was running on the stock Android OS. The phone was quite a hit in the Indian market, thanks to its amazing dual-camera system.
Now we know that any product that is hit in the Xiaomi playbook always becomes a series. Quite recently a device that resembled the Mi 6X was spotted on Chinese certification website TENAA.
The Mi 6X as per this listing has dimensions of 158.88 × 75.54 × 7.3 mm. Also as is quite clear from the image smartphone will come in the red color variant as seen in the photo. The front screen of the Mi 6x appears is black, and this will make it a bit difficult for us to tell if the phone will have a taller 18:9 display like on some of the recent Xiaomi devices.
What we can also see from the images is the fact that the smartphone resembles the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro also in many ways. Along with this the U-shaped antennas around top and bottom ends give it a very Xiaomi Mi A1 like feel.
The details of the listing spotted on the Chinese regulator’s website showed us the specifications of this rumoured Mi 6X along with the images. It also showed us that the device bears a model number M1804D2SE.
The listing revealed a 5.99-inch display and that the device will have a 2,910 mAh battery powering it. Though the listing has specified that the device will run “Android” it isn’t clear whether we can expect to see an Android One version of the device. Although going by past knowledge, Xiaomi will look to rebrand this device in a stock Android package and launch it as the Mi A2.
As of right now, it isn’t clear when Xiaomi plans to launch this Mi 6X device. Since India is Xiaomi’s biggest market we can expect the phone to come to India rebranded as the Mi A2 as soon it is launched in China.
