MIUI 10 has finally been made available to Redmi 5A. With its convenient pricing and wide array of features, Redmi 5A has been one of the most popular options among mobile phone users in India. MIUI 10 launched on the Redmi 5A is based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Recap

Redmi 5A was launched in the Indian market back in October 2017. It was one of the first few phones which were a part of the coveted ‘Make in India’ program and soon came to be known as ‘Desh ka Smartphone’.

Redmi 5A has a 5-inch display with a screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels. The smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. It also has 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB through a microSD card.

The MIUI 10 has been designed so that users can enjoy a full-screen experience. It incorporates more gestures and intuitive interactions with the device. A lot of the features have been based on or inspired by Android 8.1 Oreo.

Xiaomi Redmi 5A MIUI 10 Update

  • The MIUI 10 has included sound as a part of its user interface. The feature includes the ambience of nature as notification sounds.
  • MIUI 10 has also introduced the concept of dual applications. You can create and sign into dual accounts for all major applications including Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Amazon etc.
  • It has also introduced the concept of a second space. You can use different passcodes and fingerprints to access different profiles. Each profile will be different, with its own wallpaper, applications and files.
  • Another interesting feature that has come with MIUI 10 is the concept of a scrolling screenshot. You can take screenshots of complete web-pages or news articles in a go. This does away with the hassle of multiple screenshots, or saving and sending the link.

This update is a part of the global stable update and all users with a Redmi 5A will receive the update. If the update has not been prompted on your device yet, this could be because the software rollout is happening in a phased manner (the Beta began rolling out back in December).

How To Update Your Redmi 5A To Oreo

  • Before carrying out the update, make sure to back up all your data.
  • This is an Over-the-Air (more popularly known as OTA) update and users need to check for the System Updates under Setting > About phone option.
  • Another way to get the update on your device is by downloading the Recovery ROM. Flash it using the recovery method in order to update your device.

With its new top-notch features and sleek appearance, Xiaomi Redmi 5A is definitely a mobile phone that will stick around. Xiaomi has always been mindful of catering to its audience and with the rollout of this new update, it seems like they are here to stay.
