Twitter stated that it would take less drastic measures in comparison to account suspension, such as restricting the audience of tweets that break its rules or requesting users to delete tweets before using the account again.

New Rules

  • Now, only serious or persistent infractions will result in Twitter accounts being suspended.
  • Reducing the reach of tweets that are against company rules.
  • Requesting users to delete violating tweets before using the account again.
  • Ended up restoring a large number of contentious accounts to the platform.
