Google Meet Might Not Be Completely Free From October

Users can now create free meetings with up to 100 people and with no time limit.

Google Meet users will not be able to use the video meet app for an unlimited app like before. The platform announced that free versions will be limiting to meetings no longer than 60 minutes after September 30.

However, in April, the tech giant said that meetings are limited to 60 minutes for the free product. It will not enforce this time limit until after September 30. It because more and more people are WFH during the pandemic.

Under the extension, anyone with a Google account could create free meetings with up to 100 people, and with no time limit,” Google spokesperson told The Verge in an email. These features are normally only available to customers on the “enterprise” tier of G Suite. It costs USD 25 per user per month.

What does this entail?

It will also entail no access to advanced features for G Suite and G Suite for Education customers. In addition, allowing Google Meet meetings of up to 250 participants, and live-streams of up to 100,000 people within a single domain. Moreover, the ability to save meeting recordings to Google Drive.

Earlier, it was normally only available to customers on the “enterprise” tier of G Suite, which costs $25 per user per month.

Google Meet and other video-conferencing platforms have witnessed a meteoric rise in customers since the COVID-19. This pandemic has led to work from home for all the office workers. Additionally, schools are using it to teach students online during the pandemic.
