Panasonic Eluga Ray 800

Panasonic Eluga Ray 800 comes with mixed differences from the previous Panasonic Eluga Ray 700. Priced at Rs. 7,679, the phone comes with a smaller battery and lower quality selfie camera when compared to the Panasonic Eluga Ray 700.

Despite the demotion, the Panasonic Eluga Ray 800 is capable enough. It can push through all the essential functions required from a handset without becoming sluggish. If you don’t push it for gaming, then the phone will keep you satisfied.

Panasonic Eluga Ray 800 comes with a metallic body which keeps it quite rigid. The back of the phone is quite smooth with the camera sitting in flux with the back panel. The phone has dual SIM capabilities. In general, the phone is quite compact and easy to hold and control. However, it is not the slimmest phone.

The phone does not come with a removable battery. The fingerprint scanner is placed under the camera module and is quite easy to reach. The design is not stunning in any way,  but it gets the work done by staying compact and comfortable enough so that it does not dig into your palms.

The Panasonic Eluga Ray 800 arrives with a 5.5-inch full HD display and a resolution of 1920*1080 pixels. The screen comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to prevent scratches. The phone has an excellent pixel density too, coming at 401ppi. The colors come out quite rich and vibrant.

The brightness is adequate when used indoors, but it is not reliable if you go outside. Harsh sunlight will bring down legibility to a drastic degree. However, the display is a strong point of this phone, which is adequate given the price it comes in.

You can run a few apps together on this phone and won’t face any lag issue. However, if you push this phone to a great degree, then the phone will falter. It can run casual games, but the GPU and processor is inadequate to run high-end games. If you are looking for a phone with gaming capacity, then this is not the phone to go for. The phone responds slowly to Face Unlock, which can be expected at this budget. The phone arrives with the dated Android Nougat, which is responsive but almost obsolete among smartphones of today.

Panasonic Eluga Ray 800 arrives with a 13MP camera on its rear panel. The camera works quite wonderfully. It has a decent dynamic exposure which shifts from low-light to high-light without an issue. The colours come out natural, and the visible grain captured on this phone is quite minimal.

The phone arrives with an 8MP front camera. It clicks high-quality selfies which can be easily used for social media.

The Panasonic Eluga Ray 800 has a whopping 4,000mAh Li-ion battery. It is a robust and long-lasting battery which will easily keep your phone chugging throughout the day. It is an efficient battery and promises a more extended performance. However, the phone does not come with fast charging and hence, you will have to wait for around 2 hours to get the phone charged up to 100%.

The Panasonic Eluga Ray 800 is a capable entry-level phone. It comes with great cameras and decent performance. The display of the phone is quite marvelous. However, its shift from 5000 mAh to 4000 mAh battery does not seem to be a wise decision. Plus, the Android Nougat makes it a dated OS to work with. The phone is a value for money phone if you are not looking for a gaming set.
