      Description

The Mi 9T has the looks of a beautiful phone that will cater to your mid-range needs. Priced at Rs 25,890, the Mi 9T matches its looks with decent specifications, making it a great phone to consider.

The Xiaomi Mi 9T has the grunting performance necessary to perform the intensive tasks of a mid-range phone. It pairs it up with decent cameras, which shares much of the weaknesses of the Mi 9. Overall, Mi 9T is a decent phone to go for.

      Highlights

Mi 9T will keep you attached to it when you enter the store. However, it does have a few pros and cons:

      Pros

      • The Mi 9T comes with an attractive design.
      • It has an in-display fingerprint scanner, which is quite snappy.
      • The display is of an AMOLED screen with solid viewing angles and immersive vibrancy.
      • The Mi 9T has a mid-range processor that can tackle intensive tasks without a problem.
      • The phone has a decent battery that can keep chugging the phone for a whole day.
      • The camera can click decent shots in daylight.

      Cons

      • The performance of the Mi 9T can be unreliable when it comes to gaming.
      • The low-light shots on this phone are quite grainy.

Mi 9T is an attractive mid-ranger and can be a great find if you are looking for a power-packer. However, it is not the best phone for photographers.

      Expert Opinion

Xiaomi Mi 9T keeps itself quite top-notch in its performance and battery but fails to get rid of the camera flaws that Xiaomi Mi 9 had.

      Display

The Mi 9T arrives with the 6.39-inch AMOLED screen, just like the Mi 9, but without the notch. It has a 2340×108 resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The pixel density of this phone is about 403 PPI. The display is quite bright, getting to an average maximum brightness of 588.9 cd/m². It is quite evenly lit (about 96%), and so, you will get a homogenous mixture of colours. The AMOLED screen makes it quite bright, as well. There are no issues with image or colour distortions at extreme angles, too, indicating that the viewing angles of this phone are quite stable.

      Screen Size6.39 inches
      Display Resolution1080 x 2340 pixels

      Design

The Mi 9T has the premium touch that the Mi 9 series has brought forward. It is a metal case with a rounded glass back. One of the problems of the phone is that despite having a premium glossy rear, the phone tends to pick up fingerprints quite easily. The rear camera sits in flush so you won’t have to feel the bulge.

The phone can seem a bit on the heavier end, but then, it is built well. On the front, the screen is flat with a notch-less display. Mi 9T does not have a capacitive fingerprint scanner since it has an in-display scanner.

      Performance

Xiaomi Mi 9T comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chipset, which is a mid-range chipset and quite a powerful one too. It is paired with Qualcomm Adreno 618 GPU, which is not as good as the Adreno 616 used in Snapdragon 712, a chipset in Mi 9 SE. The performance of this phone is quite good, and you can even push intensive app use on this phone. However, when it comes to gaming, the GPU can struggle to keep itself consistent. The Adreno 640 can run Asphalt 9, which has an average of 28FPS, while it can go near 60FPS for games like Arena of Valor. However, Arena of Valor faced frame rate drops as well

      Camera

The Mi 9T comes with a triple camera set – a primary 48MP camera, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. The 9T has the same weaknesses and strengths as the rest of the 9 Series. In daylight, the photos are very detailed with a high dynamic range. The colours are just right and are kept quite bright too. However, the night shots are quite noisy and blurred. Low-light shots are quite poor on this handset.

The phone also has a 20MP selfie camera, which can produce sharp selfies. It has a bokeh effect, which is quite accurate too. The selfie camera can shoot videos at 1080p at 30fps, and the primary camera can record videos at 4K at 30fps too.

      Battery

The Mi 9T arrives with a 4,000 mAh battery, which is quite larger than the 3070 mAh of Mi 9 SE. Since the chipset is very economical, the phone can run for a long time without dying. The phone can last for around 16 hours with Wi-Fi. With light to moderate use, you can easily keep the phone chugging for more than a day.

      Verdict

Xiaomi Mi 9T is quite similar to the other 9 series. It has a pop-up camera module, which is getting quite popular. The phone has excellent performance, a great camera, and a long-lasting battery. However, it does have its weaknesses. The phone fails to capture great photos in low-light settings. Plus, the phone struggles with graphics-heavy games. Overall, the Xiaomi Mi 9T is a great mid-range phone but not suitable for photographers, especially if you are planning to click pictures in low-light situations.
