After BGMI, another popular battle royale game is finally returning to India. Free Fire India is set to launch today, bringing exciting new content, festive events and improved safety features for Indian gamers. Garena has confirmed that players can download the game for free on Android and iOS devices.

The launch brings three major attractions: India-specific in-game content, a special Diwali event running until November 15, and new parental controls designed to encourage responsible gaming. The game will also support a wide range of smartphones, making it accessible to more players across the country.

Garena is bringing back the familiar battle royale experience while adding features specially designed for Indian players. The game will include local events and campaigns celebrating India's culture and communities.

One of the biggest attractions will be the special Diwali campaign, which will remain available until November 15. Players can expect festive activities and in-game celebrations during the event.

Free Fire was banned in India in February 2022, along with several other applications. Before the ban, the game had reportedly built a massive Indian player base of more than 40 million users.

Garena later introduced Free Fire Max in September 2021, which continued to remain available in India with upgraded graphics and familiar gameplay. The company first announced a dedicated Indian version in August 2023, with cricketer MS Dhoni as its brand ambassador. However, Garena delayed that launch.

Now, the company has finally brought back the original Free Fire experience through its India-specific edition.

    Introduction Of New Safety Features

Apart from the gameplay and festive content, Garena is focusing on player safety and data protection. The company has introduced several features to encourage healthier gaming habits.

    Here are the key features:

    • Parental consent: Players below 18 will require parental consent.
    • Playtime limits: Gaming time restrictions will help prevent excessive playing.
    • Break reminders: Regular notifications will encourage players to take breaks.
    • Spending limits: Caps will help younger players control in-game spending.
    • Indian servers: The game will use servers hosted in India.
    • Wider compatibility: Optimisation will support a broad range of smartphones.

Garena also plans to strengthen India's esports ecosystem by supporting grassroots and college-level competitions. It aims to create more opportunities for Indian players to compete in national and international tournaments.

With its October 28 launch, Free Fire India could bring back excitement among millions of battle royale fans. The game's performance and player response will become clearer after its official release.
