MeitY representative N. Samaya Balan files PIL in the Telangana High Court at the February end regarding BGMI Ban. They were contesting mobile game software Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). Lawyer Anil Stevenson Jangam filed the PIL. Further, in response to the Telangana High Court, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) stated that BGMI and PUBG Mobile are two different games.
After the ban, PUBG Mobile was renamed BGMI, with South Korean publisher Krafton assuming Tencent’s Indian publishing responsibilities. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time MeitY is to stop BGMI’s activities.

Response on BGMI Ban
UBG Mobile was renamed BGMI, with South Korean publisher Krafton Tencent’s Indian publishing responsibilities. In addition, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) responded to a public interest lawsuit filed in the Telangana High Court. However, they assured the public that the two apps, ‘PUBG Mobile’ and ‘BGMI’, are not the same.

N. Samaya Balan, a representative for MeitY, confirmed that the two apps, ‘PUBG Mobile’ and ‘BGMI,’ are not the same. Moreover, according to the affidavit, this is because only the government has the capacity and power to block computer access.
Telangana High Court has not banned or prohibited Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). According to the PIL, the two apps were the same game with minor visual differences.

Tencent and publisher Krafton used front businesses to mask the app’s Chinese ties and deceive Indian authorities. As a result, BGMI and the banned PUBG Mobile are nearly identical games with minor visual changes.
