Samsung 200MP ISOCELL HP1, 50MP GN5 Sensors Announced

Samsung has officially announced their 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP1 sensor. Alongside the Samsung 200MP ISOCELL HP1 sensor, the company has also unveiled their 50-megapixel GN5 sensor. Now, both the sensors are expected to be seen in devices that will launch in the coming days. Usually when a new sensor enters the market, a smartphone launch featuring that very sensor is right around the corner.

Noted tipster Debayan Roy has taken to reveal the announcement of the two sensors. In addition, he also revealed that the Samsung 200MP ISOCELL HP1 sensor will most likely be used by the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra. Xiaomi’s Mi 12 series of devices is no secret and is expected to launch soon. The Mi 12 Ultra will be the most premium offering in the series and it makes sense for the device to be using this sensor alongside other flagship grade specs.

To recall, Samsung announced their 50MP ISOCELL GN2 sensor back in February, 2021. Now, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra was the first device to use this sensor. The Mi 11 Ultra went official two months later, in April, 2021. However, we cannot be sure whether the Mi 12 Ultra India launch will be set similarly. However, we certainly do know what to expect from the device. The Mi 12 Ultra specs were tipped a couple of days ago and here is what we know so far.

The Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra Specs include a triple rear camera setup. The setup includes a 200-megapixel primary sensor alongside two 50-megapixel secondary and tertiary sensors. Now, this 200-megapixel primary sensor is most likely going to be the newly announced Samsung 200MP ISOCELL HP1 sensor. While one of the 50MP sensors is an ultra-wide-angle sensor, the other is a 10X periscope sensor.

Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC. The device comes with the codename ‘Zeus’ whereas, the Mi 12 comes with the codename ‘Cupid’. In addition, we can expect to see the Mi 12 Ultra feature a 120Hz fast refresh rate display. We can also expect to see 120W fast charging support on the device. However, this is all that is known about the device as of now. We are expecting to hear more about the device in the coming days.
