  • The UIDAI is preparing to launch a new Aadhaar mobile app that aims to make identity management easier for everyone. The app will let users update key details instantly and manage Aadhaar information for up to five family members. It also promises faster and more secure verification at public places like hotels, airports, events, and housing societies.

    • Add Aadhaar details of up to five family members.
    • Change mobile number and address directly through the app.
    • Choose to share full or selective Aadhaar information.
    • Use QR-based offline verification anywhere.
    • One-click biometric lock/unlock for improved security.

Officials said the Aadhaar app update will encourage paperless identity sharing, reducing the need to carry Aadhaar photocopies. This helps lower the risk of misuse and fraud.

Focus On Offline Verification For Faster Check-ins In New Aadhaar update

UIDAI recently conducted a webinar to explain how the offline verification system will work in the Aadhaar app update. The aim is to make identity checks quicker and protect user privacy.

    Use Cases of Offline Verification

    • Hotel check-ins
    • Entry at residential societies
    • Access at events and gatherings
    • Proof of presence with face verification
    • Quick identity checks without internet

Officials explained how different verification modes especially QR code in scanning will help organisations process Aadhaar details safely. Aadhaar app update is expected to be future-ready, letting companies integrate Aadhaar verification easily.

The session received strong interest from partners across sectors. UIDAI encouraged organisations to begin preparing for onboarding as Offline Verification Seeking Entities (OVSEs) once the app launches next month.
