On Thursday, December 22, the Vivo S16 Pro, Vivo S16, and Vivo S16e were released in China. The new S-series smartphones have several improvements over last year’s Vivo S15 devices. They boast AMOLED panels with refresh rates of up to 120Hz and are powered by 4,600mAh batteries with 66W rapid charging capabilities. There are, however, some notable variations between the Vivo S16 Pro, Vivo S16, and Vivo S16e. The Vivo S16 Pro, for example, will have a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC, whilst a Snapdragon 870 SoC powers the S16. The Exynos 1080 SoC powers the Vivo S16e, the series’ entry-level device. All three variants are powered by Android 13 and have an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The S16 Pro costs CNY 3,299 (about Rs. 39,000) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB variant. The phone is also available in a 12GB + 512GB option for CNY 3,599. (roughly Rs. 42,600).

The smartphone comes with a 4,600mAh battery with 66W fast charging capabilities, capable of charging up to 50 per cent in as little as 19 minutes. Furthermore, the phone has dimensions of 164.1×74.8×7.36mm and weighs 182 grammes.

Furthermore, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766V primary sensor with an f/1.88 lens and optical image stabilisation (OIS) is housed at the rear, coupled with an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor with an f/2.2 lens and a 2-megapixel macro sensor with an f/2.4 lens. It has a 50-megapixel front camera sensor with an f/2.45 lens for selfies and video chats.

The smartphone has 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage as standard. The smartphone has 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.3, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, OTG, and a USB Type-C connector for connectivity. An accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor are on board. There is also a fingerprint scanner built into the display.
