Xiaomi Confirms To Ditch LCDs on Redmi Flagship Phones in 2021
Xiaomi may completely ditch the LCDs on Redmi flagships and stick to AMOLED panels. The brand switched to this with the launch of the Redmi Note 10 series. Moreover, all three smartphones are equipping with AMOLED screens. However, it looks like it will stick to this strategy and will not launch a Redmi flagship with LCD. This comes after Redmi’s general manager and Xiaomi VP Liu Weibing – conducted a poll on Weibo. In this poll, he asked users to select between LCD and LED displays.
Further, he suggests the users to buy a Redmi K30S in case they want a flagship smartphone with an LCD display. Interestingly, Xiaomi had conducted a similar poll ahead of Redmi Note 10 series’ India launch, where most people had voted in favour of AMOLED displays. The smartphone maker had surprised all by launching phones with high refresh rate AMOLED screens.
Furthermore, Xiaomi is planning to launch the Redmi Note 10S in India next week. The phone will unveil on May 13 and will have an AMOLED panel as well. It is also expecting to introduce MIUI 12.5 in the country, among other features. This makes the entire Redmi Note line-up one of the most affordable smartphone series in India with AMOLED screens.
It will be interesting to see how much of this decision affects the Indian market. As we know, the Note series remains to be Xiaomi’s most premium offering in the country under the Redmi series.
