Oppo Reno 10X boasts of a couple of things – the pop-up selfie shooter and the periscopic camera on its rear which comes with 10X zoom. On the back, there is a 13MP telephoto camera with an f/3.0 aperture, a 48MP standard camera with an f/1.7 aperture and an 8MP wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture. Both the telephoto and standard camera have optical image stabilization. The 48MP camera is excellent for most situations. You can go for zooms levels 1x, 2x, 6x and 10x. At 2x, the quality is excellent, but you can feel that it is not an optical zoom. At 6x and above, the picture gets grainy and dark since you switch to the telephone lens, which is of a lower resolution. At 10x, the quality is excellent in the daytime, but handshakes get magnified. Pushing it further with digital zoom to 60x makes the photos worse, but that’s expected. Outdoor shots are quite vibrant, and macros have fine details preserved to it. The primary camera was able to handle challenging light situations as well. Portrait modes were a bit laggy, but the final presentation was beautiful with fantastic edge detection and natural looking background blue. Focusing was quite accurate as well. In the night time, the grain was quite controlled, but the details turned out to be a bit patchy. Night mode brightened up some areas but is far from perfect.
The 16MP front camera is activated with the shark fin and can take quality shots in the day time. Night time can result in noisy shots. You have different facial feature adjustments which you use. Portrait modes are wonderful, but the edge detection is slightly off.
In case of videos, you can record up to 4K quality between 30fps and 60fps. Digital zoom of 10x is also present. Focus is mostly steady. Stabilization is active and well in 30fps, but it becomes weaker in 60fps.
