Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Launch in India

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 Pro in February 2019. It has a 6.3-inch display, a Snapdragon 675 processor, and a 4000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4+. The phone features dual rear cameras (48MP + 5MP) and a 13MP front camera. It comes in Blue, Black, and Red. Let’s look at the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro price and all its features.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro price is Rs 10,999. This price is for the variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There is one more variant that features 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and the price for this variant is Rs. 17,999.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Design

Breaking away from the metal-body design, Xiaomi has opted for an all-glass design for the Redmi Note 7 Pro for the very first time. Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi Note 7 Pro with Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back to protect it from accidental drops and damage. The back panel flaunts a gradient colour texture that reflects light in exciting patterns at certain angles. You get the Nebula Red, Neptune Blue, and Tpace Black colour variants, all of which look good. 

On the top left corner of the back panel, there’s a vertically aligned dual camera module with a noticeable bump (considering the bigger sensor). The fingerprint sensor is conveniently placed in the back panel’s top-middle portion display and has a tiny dot-notch that houses the selfie camera. The side bezels are thin, with a small chin at the bottom. The 3.5mm headphone jack rests on the top part of the body.

Redmi Note 7 Pro boasts a 6.3-inch Full HD+LTPS in-cell display. LTPS in-cell display is energy savvy – it consumes much less power and generates less heat than standard IPS displays. The display has sound colour reproduction, which, although on the cooler side, can be tweaked (MIUI comes with many built-in screen tuning abilities). The texts, images, and icons appear to be crisp and sharp (not as bright as AMOLED displays, but impressive for this price range). There’s also a blue-light filter that minimizes eye strain by reducing the blue-light emission from the screen. Another great thing about the display is that it comes with the Widevine L1 certification – now you can stream HD content on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video!

While the display may not be able to match the Super AMOLED display of Samsung phones, it does impress for the price.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Performance

With the Redmi Note 6 Pro, Xiaomi faced much criticism for its overall performance. So, Xiaomi decided to turn it up a notch in the Redmi Note 7 Pro by integrating an octa-core (2 GHz, dual-core, Kryo 460 + 1.7 GHz, Hexa Core, Kryo 460) Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC. The phone also gets an Adreno 612 GPU to handle the graphical performance. The Snapdragon 675 uses the same Cortex A76 cores as the Snapdragon 855.

The performance of the Note 7 Pro matches all expectations from a mid-range smartphone. Not only can it handle routine tasks with ease, but it can also handle games quite well, even PUBG and Asphalt. While it can handle most 3D games with ease, we’d recommend switching to medium settings for games like PUBG and Asphalt. This will ensure a pleasant gaming experience minus the occasional frame rate drops and lags that usually pop under high settings. You will experience the phone getting heated up much faster than the previous Note series phones.

As for the UI, the Redmi Note 7 Pro runs on MIUI 10 based on Android Pie. The software has valuable and nifty features like second space, optional gesture controls, custom themes, etc. The user interface is similar to that of the Redmi Note 6 Pro. It is pretty smooth and user-friendly.

The phone has a dual camera setup at the back, including a 48MP primary sensor (f/1.79 aperture) paired with a 5MP depth sensor. The camera can capture a fair share of details in daylight without losing sharpness. Even the colours and contrast look good. 

For low-light settings, you get the Night Mode, which can very well capture crisp shots with the right amount of detail. The Night Mode delivers results as good as those clicked by the OnePlus 6T. As for the Portrait Mode, it appears to be much better than offered by most phones in the same price bracket. Also, it has a more natural blur effect. 

The camera has many AI enhancement features and other modes like Panorama, Short Video, Pro, Group Selfie, etc. You can take 4K videos at 30fps with a rear camera. Since it has an EIS (Electronic Image Stabilisation) feature, the videos look stable and sharp.

The 13MP front camera can capture detailed and excellent selfies. While the colours pop beautifully, the images also display great detail. However, the camera struggles mostly in low-light conditions—the photos look blurry and grainy.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Battery

The Redmi Note 7 Pro has a  4,000mAh non-removable battery. The battery can stretch through an entire day, provided you use the phone for routine tasks like calling, texting, browsing, and lightweight gaming.  While it does come with a Quick Charge 4.0 support, there’s no fast charger in the box.
