    • Apple iPhone 6 Review in Hindi
      3rd Jun 2020

    About the Phone

Had it been late 2014 or early 2015, we would have instantly recommended the iPhone 6 for people who would be willing to shell out the big bucks. Back then, the iPhone 6 offered massive upgrades over its predecessors, and was a device set for big sales.

Today presents a different story, however. In the price range that the iPhone 6 retails for today, which is around the INR 22000 mark for the 32 GB version, you could be looking at flagship-class Android smartphones for a fraction of the price. However, if you are hell bent on getting an Apple device, then do yourself a favour, and get the iPhone 7 or 6S at the very least. They may cost a little bit more, but present more value for money.

The iPhone 6 is still a stellar handset, by all means, but it has since been succeeded by the iPhone 7, 8, and consequently the iPhone X, XS, and other devices in the range. In today’s time, you could be buying better Android devices for similar money, but, if you’re set on getting an Apple device, opting for the 6S or 7 would be a better bang for your buck.

As compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 5S, however, the iPhone 6 improved in a lot many areas. The design and display size were the two main modifications, with many other featured changes.

The look and feel of the iPhone 6 is slicker than the 5S, and the design is where the major changes come in. Apple opted for smoother, more comfortable edges on the 6, as opposed to the sharper ones on previous phones. This makes it better to hold in the hand, although the phone is just as fragile. One fall could render the screen or phone unusable, therefore, it is better to invest in a case or cover.

The power button is now moved to the side of the display, leaving the top side blank. Apple’s touch ID feature is embedded in the home button, and this is one of the rare phones now which has a 3.5 mm headphone jack!

The sleek and ergonomic design makes the phone great for long hours of usage, with no strain or pain in the hands while using it. The refined design screams elegance, as is clear from its successors that Apple decided to change the designs for the better at just the right time.

Apple increased the display size to 4.7 inches, which is a significant increase from the 5S. This screen size makes the phone big, but not too big as to render it unusable. The phone fits in the hand perfectly and is suitable for one handed usage too.

The branded Retina HD display, with a resolution of 1334 by 750 pixels, is a joy to behold. Although the iPhone 6 plus houses a full HD display, the screen of the iPhone 6 is by no means a letdown. The screen quality is crisp, bright, but not as refined and sharp as other devices available today.

The Apple iPhone 6 houses the Apple A8 processor, which was brand new at the time of release. It is based on the ARM architecture, and also houses a sensory M8 processor which allows the phone to conserve battery life by putting the A8 to sleep whenever it is not needed. The RAM, which is always low on Apple devices, is a measly 1 GB, which is nothing compared to the Android devices of today. Optimization of use, however, is different class. The iPhone 6 would, with its mere 1 GB RAM, run much faster than many Android devices today. This speed, even without the specs, has always been a standout feature of Apple devices.

It houses the iOS 8 out of the box, which is now upgradable to newer versions of the operating system.

The camera is one place where Apple takes the cake, always. The company is renowned for producing phones with the best cameras in their segment, and the iPhone 6 delivered at the time of release, too. An 8 MP rear shooter, with improved lens and sensor allow the iPhone 6 to display colour more accurately, and take better low-light images.

Improved stabilization, the addition of both 120 fps and 240 fps slow motion modes, and continuous autofocus improve the quality of videos like never before. One thing where the phone lags behind its competitors is 4K video recording. Apple’s camera app is very minimalist and easy to use, and gives the user exactly what he/she wants: great videos and images, with no hassle.

The non-removable, non-replaceable 1810 mAh battery performs just as one would expect, failing to last a whole day on heavy usage. It isn’t much bigger than the battery offered in its predecessor, the iPhone 5S, but owing to the much larger screen, it clocks times lower than the 5S on video playback tests (about an hour lower). If you require long battery life, then it would be wise to choose a successor of the iPhone 6, or go for another Android handset, since the iPhone 6 isn’t known for its battery life.

So, what would be the final word when it comes to the iPhone 6?

Our thoughts would be to pass up on this phone and go for a newer Apple model, or another Android phone with much better specifications in the same price segment. At the time of release in 2014, the Apple iPhone 6 was certainly a must buy for Apple lovers, but given the options available today, it is very much a phone that belongs in the past.
