With the HomePod 15 beta 5 update, Apple HomePod and HomePod mini now support Apple Music Lossless Audio and Spatial Audio. Users with either of the HomePod devices with the most latest beta software update on both HomePod and iOS will be able to use Apple Music’s high-resolution audio streaming tiers, as well as listen to songs in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos support. In the following months, the features will most likely be available to all HomePod and iOS users.

Apple HomePod, HomePod Mini Gets Spatial Audio and Music Lossless Support
Both HomePod devices, including the bigger HomePod and the smaller HomePod Mini will get this feature. The features must be activated in the settings in the Home app on iOS by users with the latest software version. It’s worth noting that, according to 9to5Mac, not all users on the beta software community will be able to receive the updates just yet.

Because of the limitations of Bluetooth headphones and earphones, Apple Music requires a wired connection to properly transmit the data for high-resolution audio streaming on smartphones, tablets, and computers, the HomePod range uses Wi-Fi — and its better data transfer capabilities — to receive and decode the data to play back. As a result, HomePod users will most likely notice a difference in sound quality with Lossless audio because the device streams directly through its own Internet connection.

Individual subscription plans for Apple Music start at Rs. 99 per month in India, and all users on iOS, Android, and MacOS get access to Lossless and High-Resolution Lossless streaming, as well as Dolby Atmos functionality. Once linked to your Apple account and subscription, the HomePod series works exclusively with Apple Music to stream music directly. Users of the HomePod and HomePod mini will be able to experience higher sound quality while streaming songs over Apple Music with the addition of support for the high-resolution streaming tiers and Spatial Audio.
