Apple Stores in India To Become A Reality Soon: What We Know So Far

Apple’s much-awaited Apple Store in India is seemingly close to reality. Earlier last year, the company launched its online store in the country. Ever since then rumours of a physical retail store launching in few years have surfaced often. But, the company confirmed it officially in 2020. Moreover, Apple CEO – Tim Cook confirms the company is seeking approval from the government. It plans to open its retail stores in 2021 in India.

Apple’s store are widely popular for being state-of-the-art structures that offer a first-hand peek at all Apple products. While people in India have been bereft of the experience so far, things are soon about to change, it seems.

Apple Plans to Open its First Retail Stores in Mumbai and Delhi

According to a report by Nuclear Bits, Apple has started the hiring process for its retail Apple store in Mumbai and Delhi. The first store is expecting to come up at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Then, the second store will be in Delhi. Some of the roles for which Apple has started hiring employees include Store Leader, Senior Manager, Manager, Operations Expert, Genius, Specialist and Technical Specialist among others. Additionally, several job openings by Apple are floating on professional social network LinkedIn recently, all centered either in Delhi or Mumbai.

According to Apple’s Head of Recruiting in India in a LinkedIn post, the company is now hiring workers for its retail Apple store. Renu Sevanthi shared a post from another employee, Nidhi Sharma. She writes:

Note that many of these job openings mention part-time or contractual employment at the Apple Store. Some even allow the applicants to work for only a limited number of hours through the week. It is likely that the company will allow some Apple Store employees, those on the back-end, to work from home as well, due to the Covid-19 protocols of limited attendance in a professional space.
