Say hi to the latest watchOS 8. The latest Apple Watch OS contains not only new watch faces but also several entirely new features. Features such as the ability to type text on the Apple Watch using their finger and send text messages. Users will be able to operate Apple Home kit-supported IoT (Internet-of-Things) gadgets on Apple Watch more simply than ever.

The new version also adds support for two new activities: Tai Chi and Pilates. The popular Breathe app will now be known as Mindfulness. Also, the breathing activity display on the Watch will be more bright and animated.

In addition, the Mindfulness app now includes a new Reflect session, in which users are invited to think of anything pleasant for a time to de-stress. For example, the user would see something like “Recall a recent occasion when you felt calm.” “Reflect on one thing you’re grateful for and consider why you value it so much,” or “Bring that feeling into this moment.”

In addition, watchOS 8 supports portrait Watch faces, allowing users to use a photo with a Bokeh blur effect as the watch face. People will now be able to send a message with a photo or a GIF directly from their Apple Watch.

Furthermore, watchOS 8 will allow Apple Watches to fully use its accelerometer to monitor respiratory rate. It will monitor the number of breaths per minute taken when sleeping. This will provide more information on the owner’s sleep pattern as well as overall health.

Apple Watch Series 3 and later models will support the latest watchOS 8.
