Asus has finally launched the Zenfone 8 in India as Asus 8z. Although this compact flagship comes after a big delay from its global launch. It is designed with a focus on consumers looking for a compact flagship. Globally, it launched back in May 2021 and now is available in the Indian market. This new smartphone highlights a compact design that features a punch-hole camera, dual rear cameras, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Although the ZenFone 8 series has one more model in its lineup, but it looks like it isn’t coming to India this time. However, Asus 8z Flip has launched internationally. In any case, let us look at the pricing, availability, and specifications for the vanilla variant:

Price in India, Availability
The phone’s price in India is Rs. 42,999 for the variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The phone will be available via Flipkart online and comes in Horizon Silver and Obsidian Black colour options. The Asus 8z will go on sale starting March 7, 2022.
Meanwhile, in May last year, the Asus ZenFone 8 or Asus 8z launched at EUR 599 (roughly Rs. 50,400) for the 6GB + 128GB storage variant, EUR 669 (roughly Rs. 56,300) for the 8GB + 128GB storage model, and the EUR 799 (roughly Rs. 67,300) for the top-end 16GB + 256GB storage option.

Asus 8z Specifications
To recall, Asus ZenFone 8 or Asus 8Z comes with a 5.9-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.
Furthermore, the phone packs a 4,000mAh battery along with support for 30W fast charging. The dual camera on the Asus ZenFone 8 comes with a 64-megapixel primary shooter and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera – both using Sony sensors. At the front, there is a 12-megapixel selfie shooter on the Asus ZenFone 8.

Asus 8z comes with 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage that supports expansion through HDD over NTFS format. It, however, doesn’t support expandable storage via a microSD card. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/ A-GPS/ NavIC, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors onboard include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyro, magnetometer, and a proximity sensor. There is also an under-display fingerprint sensor. Further, the phone comes with stereo speakers and triple microphones.
