Fairphone, a European smartphone producer, is at the brink of a new smartphone release in the Indian market. The company is known for its ethical practices and high sustainability while producing environmentally safe smartphones. As reported, the Fairphone 4 5G is now a step closer to a release with the latest Wi-Fi Alliance certification.

The Wi-Fi certification reveals Android 11 OS and a Qualcomm processor as per the Wi-Fi firmware in Fairphone 4. However, there is still no clarity as to when the launch is imminent. Although, the Wi-Fi certification implies a step closer to the launch, and a finished product might be merely a month or two away.
Upgrading Fairphone
With the available info and the price of the Fairphone 3 plus model released last year, the latest device might price around Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 45,000. Fairphone 3 plus was an upgrade over its predecessor, from 12 MP to 48 MP camera, and a sturdy new body with recycled plastic. One unique feature for the Fairphone 3 user was that they needed a new camera module to upgrade to the plus version. Banking on this USP, Fairphone 4 might bring some new upgrades for Fairphone 3 users.

Why Use Fairphone?
Fairphone smartphones, including Fairphone 4, are produced sustainably than the other modular smartphones in the market. The devices use up to 40 per cent recycled materials. These devices score high in reparability and have the advanced feature of upgrading easily with new hardware add ons available specifically for these. The premium smartphone brands have failed to produce a fair reparability score. But when it comes to FairPhone, it managed to gain a score of 10/10 in iFixit.
While several brands failed to take note, Fairphone seems to be riding on the sustainability factor. The new offering of Fairphone 4 5G is in line with making sustainability more prominent in the smartphone market.
