This news directly from a post from Weibo by Chen Jin, the general manager of the Chinese arm of Lenovo (Motorola’s parent company). It talks about a new flagship generation of Motorola smartphones using Snapdragon 800-series chipsets. This is a premium line of processors, so it suggests the Moto Edge S and more will be fairly high-end.

Motorola Edge S Leaks

The leak does not give concrete information about the Moto Edge S, but it provides a decent idea of what to expect. It can either power on Snapdragon 888 or 865. Moreover, it also provides some early schematics. The curved display from the Edge and Edge+ make a re-appearance. No surprise, as that’s the whole point of “Edge”. The hole punch gets relocated to the middle of the display.

On the other hand, apart from Moto Edge S, Motorola Nio is to debut with last year’s Snapdragon 865 SoC. The Motorola Nio can pack a 6.7-inch display with FHD+ resolution. In addition, it will also have an unusual 105Hz refresh rate alongside a 64MP primary camera and Android 11.

It is very likely the Motorola Edge S series is the anticipated Edge 2 line in all but name. According to Jin the Moto Edge S is ‘coming soon’, so we’ll hold our breath for more information on the phones.
