The new Apple Pencil has a matte finish and can magnetically attach to the side of the iPad. Furthermore, you can pair and charge it via the USB-C port instead of lightning.

The new Pencil has low latency and tilt sensitivity, which is ideal for note-taking and sketches. This new Apple Pencil sits in the middle of the Pencil lineup with a lower price tag than the 2nd Generation Pencil.

However, it does skip out on some features like pressure sensitivity, wireless charging, double tap to change tools and free engraving. But you do get support for the hover feature on M2 iPad Pro models. The lack of pressure sensitivity might disappoint professional artists.
