What is Desktop Mode in Android 16?

Desktop mode is a latest feature of Android 16, wherein you can connect your phone to your PC and mirror all the UI and features of your phone onto your PC, allowing you to access them.

When you connect your phone to your PC, you will see a blank screen with a taskbar at the bottom, the time at the top left, and your network and battery status at the top right. This means that your PC will resemble a Mobile screen entirely. Now, with your devices like a mouse and keyboard, you can control everything. You can then open apps through the app drawer or by utilising the shortcuts docked to the taskbar.

Can You Turn Your Phone Into A PC?

Well, the latest Android 16 update and its desktop mode feature are more like turning your PC into a phone than your phone into a PC. Unlike the ‘mirror-cast’ or the ‘screen-cast’ feature, which only allows you to display cross-device content, this latest desktop mode allows you to actually use the apps and perform all the functions.
