  • Vivo has launched its latest smartphone as an addition to the Y-series, the Vivo Y53s in Kenya. To recall, this smartphone first launched in Vietnam last month. Although it launched in the budget category lineup – it has a 5G variant too. Meanwhile, the device teased as ‘Clear shot, Unlock more fun’ will now be available from today both offline and online stores.

    In terms of pricing, it comes in two colours: Deep Sea Blue and Fantastic Rainbow. Y53s will retail at 27,999 Kenya Shillings country-wide. Whereas, the single 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the Y53s costs VND 6,990,000 (approximately Rs. 22,700). In China, the Vivo Y53s 5G is priced at CNY 1,799 (approximately Rs. 20,500) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model and CNY 1,999 (about Rs. 22,800) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model.

    The Vivo Y53s has a dual-SIM configuration and runs Funtouch OS 11.1 based on Android 11. It comes with a 6.58-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) LCD display that has a 60Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 SoC with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded with a microSD card.

    The Vivo Y53s has a triple back camera configuration with a 64-megapixel primary sensor with an f/.79 lens, a 2-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with an f/2.4 lens for pictures and videos. A 16-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture is there in a notch on the front of the phone.

    4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5, GPS, and a USB Type-C connection for charging are all available as options for connectivity. A gravity sensor, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, e-compass, and gyroscope are among the sensors onboard the Vivo Y53. There’s also a fingerprint scanner on the side. A 5,000mAh battery fuels the phone and supports 33W fast charging. The smartphone comes with dimensions 164×75.46×8.38mm and weighs 190 grams.
