Oppo R11 Plus may dub itself as an advancement over the R11, but it improves only on the battery and falters in all other aspects, resulting in a phone with the same performance, display, and decent camera as its predecessor.

Oppo R11 Plus tries to address some of the issues that the R11 had. Priced at Rs. 35,021, it is a capable phone tries to cater to the mid-range market.

Oppo R11 Plus does not bring in much to the table. It comes with the similar display and the same processor as its predecessor. However, it brings in a change in its juice-pack, making it an adequately powered phone. It can be a great model for anyone looking for a long-lasting phone.

Oppo R11 Plus comes with minor upgrades over its predecessors. It has a few pros and cons:

  • The Oppo R11 Plus comes with an AMOLED display which provides amazing contrast and deep colours and promises immersive experience.
  • Oppo R11 Plus improves on the battery by amping it up, thereby providing more than one day of charge.
  • It comes with a beautiful selfie camera with capabilities to produce decent selfies.

  • Oppo R11 Plus does not change its design from its predecessor thereby continuing with a dated handset.
  • It is a bit heavy for a handset.
  • Oppo R11 Plus comes with the same processor as the R11 and therefore, the performance remains a bit iffy and dated.
  • The rear cameras do not have good low-light shooting capabilities.

Oppo R11 does not come with significant changes from its predecessor. On the whole, it remains a capable phone for an average user, but if you already own the R11, an upgrade to the R11 Plus would not make much sense.

Expert Opinion

Oppo R11 Plus may dub itself as an advancement over the R11, but it improves only on the battery and falters in all other aspects, resulting in a phone with the same performance, display, and decent camera as its predecessor.

The Oppo R11 Plus has a 6-inch screen size when measured from corner to corner. It comes with a resolution of 1080 x 1920p and also arrives with the amazing AMOLED screen. Due to the AMOLED screen, you get to see punchy colours and the mesmerising deep blacks. The viewing angles are quite great, and it does not get dim when the phone is tilted. However, the phone is not very bright, and as a result, you tend to get visibility issues when you take it outside in the harsh sunlight.

The R11 Plus has the dimension of 165.8 x 81.5 x 7.8 mm. It is quite slim at 7.8 mm. However, the phone is quite weighty at 188g due to the presence of a sizeable battery. The phone fits well in the hand, and you can handle it easily without a problem. It comes with a fingerprint sensor at an ergonomic location and it works fast. On the whole, the R11 Plus has a pleasing design but it is not something that hasn’t been seen before, and so it doesn’t stand out.

The phone arrives with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, which is an older model. While it is a capable processor, it fails to deliver the same kind of performance as the flagship Snapdragon 845 series. The quad-core processor has two cores running at 2.2 GHz for heavy use, and the remaining two are clocked at 1.8GHz for lighter use.

It is partnered with the Adreno 512 GPU, which is also an older version. However, the phone performs quite well. It can get through light tasks quite easily and can be used for reliable multitasking. It can also give a smooth gaming experience provided that graphics-intensive games are not run on it. Pushing heavy apps might result in a slowdown too.

However, due to the coupling of this processor with 6GB RAM, you can get a smooth multitasking experience.

Oppo R11 Plus has a 16MP front camera and 20MP rear camera which features autofocus and Dual LED flash. It also comes with portrait mode which is essential for any phone at this price range. The autofocus works well and is quite quick to detect and lock on to subjects. The portrait mode has good edge detection and produces a background blur which does not look artificial. However, edge detection is not completely accurate, and there might be a bit of blurring around the hair edges while clicking portrait modes.

In daylight, the colors are quite sharp, and the color reproduction turns out to be quite decent. The details are preserved well in the photos. However, when the lights are dimmed, there is a significant loss of details. The images start to appear grainy, and there might be a bit of blur present on the subject.

The front 20MP camera is a beauty. The lens sensor is high resulting in clear and detailed photos. The front camera does not disappoint for the most part and captures sharp selfies that could be used for social media purposes. However, when the lights get dim, the quality of the selfies plummet, and the fine details are lost.

The Oppo R11 Plus comes with a great battery of 3880 mAh. It is a significant update from the R11 Plus, and as a result, it delivers as well. The battery can get you through one day and a half with medium or heavy use. You can also get lucky to see it run for two days on a single charge if you use it lightly. Gaming and video streaming will, however, drain the battery at a fast rate, but this is true for all phones.

Battery Capacity4000 mAh
Battery TypeLi-Po

The R11 Plus does not come with any significant improvement in processing when compared to the Oppo R11. It has the same processor, so you get nothing new with the performance. However, there has been an increase in the battery size resulting in increased stamina of the phone. The AMOLED screen is excellent and gives you an immersive experience. On the whole, it is a great mid-range phone that will please the average user, though it may not come with the best flagship features present in the midrange market.
