Realme 8 5G is finally here, the cheapest 5G smartphone currently available in the Indian smartphone market. Earlier there was the Realme Narzo 30 Pro as the most affordable 5G smartphone but has been dethroned by Realme 8 5G smartphone, launched on 21st of April during a virtual launch event. Realme 8 5G is the third smartphone from the Realme 8 Series, which earlier features the Realme 8 and the Realme 8 Pro. This time the Chinese smartphone company has introduced multiple interesting and amazing features in this newly launched device and intended to bring the mid-range experience to the affordable section. So before waiting further, let’s get started with a quick tour of the Realme 8 5G.

Realme 8 5G Price in India

The all-new Realme 8 5G belongs to the affordable sections and the smartphone has been launched in two variants, one with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage and another with 8GB RAM and 128Gb internal storage. It has been unveiled in two stylish colours including the Supersonic Blue and the Supersonic Black. The 4GB RAM variant is priced at Rs.14,999 and will be available for sale from the 28th of April, 12 PM.

Although there is ‘Dare to Leap’ branding in every smartphone belonging to the Realme 8 Series, this time the branding has been removed and Realme 8 5G comes with a simplistic design, which appears quite attractive. The best thing about the design is that Realme 8 5G features flat edges for making the in-hand feel good and ensuring a better grip.

The rear panel is made of plastic, but still, it will attract fingerprints, so you must use the back cover provided with the package. The overall weight is 187 grams and the thickness is just 8.5 mm, which makes Realme 8 5G the lightest and the thinnest smartphone, although there is a huge 5000 mAh battery inside.

Speaking of the fingerprint sensor, it comes integrated with the power button on the right edge, while the volume rocker and the SIM tray are there on the left side of the smartphone. The bottom side features the Type-C charging port along with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a bottom-firing speaker grille.

The only thing that is missing here is the Gorilla Glass protection along with dust and waterproofing.

Realme 8 5G comes equipped with a large 6.5-inch 90Hz ultra-smooth display with FHD+ resolution and a screen to body ratio of 90.5% for ensuring vivid visuals and a large viewing area. The Realme 8 5G display features 600nits of peak brightness, which makes it along with all other features quite decent. There isn’t a large chin either and the side bezels are negligible for offering a seamless experience.

If there is something more interesting about this smartphone, it is the performance section. Starting with the chipset first, Realme 8 5G becomes the world’s first smartphone to feature the Dimensity 700 5G chipset, which is based on the 7nm architecture.  So the gaming experience is going to be pretty awesome with the Realme 8 5G. Not only this, here the amazing thing is that not only you can increase the internal storage, Realme 8 5G features a virtual RAM expansion feature. Isn’t it quite amazing?

Realme 8 5G comes with 4GB/8GB RAM along with 128GB internal storage. You can virtually increase the 4GB RAM to 5GB and the 8B RAM to 11GB. So, the multitasking experience is going to be overwhelming with this smartphone.

On the software front, Realme 8 5G runs on Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11, which comes with some pre-installed apps that can be uninstalled later. One more thing that is stunning here is the 5G connectivity with support for 7 bands when there is only 2 band support in the midrange and flagship devices. Further, both the SIM slots support 5G.

The camera department is not a big highlight of the Realme 8 5G. There is a 48MP NightScape camera with three lenses on the rear side. The combination includes a 48MP main sensor, a B&W Portrait lens and another 4cm Macro lens. It is particularly meant for enhancing the night photography experience. On the front, the Realme 8 5G features a 16MP AI Beauty Selfie camera to help you record yourself clearly.

One of the additional features worth noting is the support for UIS Video Stabilization along with multiple other things like Time Lapse, AI Scene Recognition HDR and Super Night Scape.

You’ve got a large battery as well for powering the whole device. yes, Realme 8 5G features a massive 5000 mAh battery under the hood, which according to the company is sufficient to ensure 655 hours of standby time, 42 hours of calling, 16 hours of video and 114 hours of music. For refilling the battery, there is support for 18W fast charging, although it should have been more than that, still considering the overall offerings, it’s quite decent as well. There is a Type-C charging port provided for connecting the charger.

Realme 8 5G is the power-packed 5G smartphone from the Chinese smartphone company, Realme and carries a nice set of specs including a 90Hz refresh rate display, a superb processor based on 7nm technology and decent RAM, which can be increased along with a huge battery supporting 18W fast charging. If you are looking for the cheapest 5G smartphone, then this should be on the top of your priority list.
