About the Mobile Phone

Samsung Galaxy M51 Pros & Cons

The Samsung Galaxy M51 is the company’s first smartphone with a large 7,000mAh battery. The Galaxy M51 also features a larger 6.7-inch SuperAMOLED display with full-HD+ quality. Samsung has chosen a 20:9 aspect ratio, making the device tall and slender. The hole-punch camera of the Galaxy M51 is located in the middle, at the top of the display. While watching material, some users may find this distracting.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC powers the Galaxy M51, a first for a Galaxy M series smartphone. It is capable of fast loading programmes as well as multitasking without difficulty. Samsung has released two models, one with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and another with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Galaxy M51 includes two Nano-SIM slots as well as a MicroSD slot.

Pros:

  • Gigantic battery
  • sAMOLED screen
  • Dedicated microSD card slot
  • A headphone jack is available

Cons:

  • Same design as other Samsung phones which are cheaper
  • The obstructive centre position of the hole-punch camera

Samsung has recently released the latest addition to its M-series, the Samsung Galaxy M51. The Samsung Galaxy M51 has a glass front with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and a plastic back which sandwiches the plastic frame of the device. On the back of the phone, we have the quad-camera setup with an LED flash and the Samsung branding on the bottom. On the front-side, we have a 6.7-inch display with a hole-punch cut-out for the front camera to reside in. On the right side, we have the volume buttons and the power button, which also functions as the fingerprint scanner. This placement of the fingerprint scanner is more accessible to the user in such a large device form-factor. On the bottom, we have the USB Type-C port, the loudspeaker, the microphone, and the good old 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Galaxy M51 comes in Celestial Blue and Electric Blue colour options. The device weighs over 213g and is 9.5mm thick.

The screen on the Galaxy M51 is a large 6.7-inch 1080 by 2340 pixel Super AMOLED display with Samsung’s Infinity-O design with an O-shaped hole-punch cut-out for the front camera. The display is capable of producing over 16M colours and has a screen-to-body ratio of 87.4%. The display has a pixel density of 385ppi and has an aspect ratio of 20:9. It is shocking to see that there is no mention of any higher refresh rate on this device.

Under the hood, the Galaxy M51 is having the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G octa-core processor. It is built on an 8nm process with maximum clock speeds of up to 2.2GHz. There is 128GB of internal storage with provision to expand up to 512GB via the dedicated microSD card slot while the memory options are 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM.

The Galaxy M51 runs on the Android 10 with Samsung’s own OneUI 2.0 layered on top of it.

The camera department on the Galaxy M51 is handled by the quad-camera setup on the back and a single camera on the front. The quad-camera setup consists of a 64MP Sony IMX682 sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with 123˚ field of view, a 5MP depth sensor, and a 5MP macro sensor for extreme close-up shots. Features like LED flash, panorama, HDR are also available in this setup. The video output from this camera setup is rated at 4k at 30fps.

The front camera is a 32MP Sony IMX616 sensor with HDR enabled and video output of 1080p at 30fps.

The main USP of the Galaxy M51 is its battery. This phone is powered by a humongous 7000mAh Li-Po battery which makes this according to Samsung, the first smartphone with such a battery capacity in India. The included power adapter provides up to 25W of charging which is advertised by Samsung to fully charge this device in 115 minutes. Samsung also included a very useful feature of Reverse charging in the Galaxy M51. This feature can be used to charge another smartphone from this device via the USB Type-C to Type-C cable provided.

Samsung has lately produced many great smartphones with good specifications. But the monotonous design and a strange pricing pattern confuse the consumer. But this is a great device for the ones who need good performance paired with a battery to make it last a long time on a single charge. In conclusion, this smartphone is a great buy for those looking for a mid-range smartphone.
