Sony Xperia PRO-I Pros & Cons
Compared to the original Xperia Pro, the Xperia Pro-I (where I stands for Imaging) offers some significant improvements. It’s a water-resistant Android smartphone with a 6.5-inch 4K OLED screen that now supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The CPU has been changed to Snapdragon 888, the cameras and lenses have been enhanced, and yet, somehow, the phone’s profile has been slimmed down, and the whole device has become lighter!

- Excellent performance with SD 888
- 5G connectivity
- Whopping camera setup
- Superb design

The Sony Xperia smartphone will be available for sale at official retail outlets starting in December of this year. Sony Xperia Pro-I Design
The Sony Xperia Pro-I has a metal frame, Gorilla Glass Victus on the front, and Gorilla Glass 6 on the back, all of which contribute to the device’s rugged appearance. Because this is a camera-centric gadget, the sides are ribbed for enhanced ergonomics. To improve feedback, it has a specialised two-stage shutter key that is equipped with damping. The Videography Pro app is launched by pressing the second circular button. The Xperia Pro-I, like other current Xperia flagships, is water-resistant. An Always-on and lightning-fast fingerprint scanner is built into the power key.
Sony Xperia Pro-I Display
An OLED display measuring 6.5-inches with 4K HDR 10-bit and a 21:9 aspect ratio is used on the Xperia Pro-I. APL (average picture level) of 1 per cent and 100% for HDR content, respectively, may attain peak brightness of 1000 and 400 nits. Standard and SDR content tend to be darker, which has been troublesome in the past, especially when shooting outside, an issue Sony claims to have addressed in recent firmware updates.
Sony Xperia Pro-I Performance
While the Sony Xperia Pro-I’s major focus is on photography, the manufacturer did not neglect performance. It is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 888 CPU. It has up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The Xperia Pro-I has a microSDXC hybrid card slot that can handle up to 1TB of extra storage. The Xperia Pro-I is based on Android 11 and has the standard Xperia skin applied to it on top of that.
Additionally, the Sony phone has Dolby Atmos speakers built-in. On the technology front, there is support for 5G and 4G LTE as well as Wi-Fi 6, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), NFC, and Bluetooth v5.2 as well as USB Type-C (for charging).
Sony Xperia Pro-I Camera
Here we have a trio of 12MP cameras, each with a separate sensor and a different resolution. The 12-megapixel ultrawide (top) and 12-megapixel telephoto (bottom) sensors are separated by the 1-Type Exmor RS BSI CMOS, which occupies the centre of the trio. There is an IR light source underneath the primary camera as well as a TOF camera. The LED flash is located at the very top of the huge camera arrangement, away from the main lens. In addition, the white dot right next to it is most likely a colour spectrum sensor (or something similar).
Computational photography, which includes techniques like picture stacking with HDR and other software enhancements that are already common in most smartphones, is also being used by Sony to create amazing pics. There’s an 8MP front-facing camera with 5-axis Gyro video stabilisation and Full HD filming at 30fps.
Sony Xperia Pro-I Battery
When it comes to the battery, the Sony Xperia pro-I features a 4500 mAh battery, which is very low compared to the heavy configuration of the device. There should have been at least a 5000 mAh battery for carrying out the whole photography experience with ease and without carrying the wired charger everywhere. As for the refilling, the device supports proprietary fast charging and there is a Type C charging port for connecting the charger.
Sony Xperia Pro-I Verdict
The Sony Xperia Pro-I is meant for those who are into filmmaking and professional photography like vlogging etc. The camera setup is the major highlight of this device and is truly mesmerizing when it comes to the results. Also, the chipset is very powerful and the display is su[er fast as well. So if your budget is very high, you may consider giving it a try.
