Description

Vivo X27 will attract you with its fantastic design. Priced at Rs. 32,990, the phone packs a punch not only in its look but with the grunting processor and a fuel-packed battery.

However, the phone might seem a bit overpriced, considering that phones with better processors arrive at the same price range. Overall, it is a great phone but lacks the competitive edge and loses out on value-for-money potential.

Highlights

The Vivo X27 looks like a set that will capture your attention. It has a few pros and cons:

Pros

  • The X27 has a beautiful design that’s both classy and premium.
  • It comes with an in-Display fingerprint scanner.
  • It has a headphone jack and a USB Type-C port.
  • The phone has a beautiful Super AMOLED Display, which gives a vibrant, immersive experience.
  • The X27 arrives with a mid-tier processor which works well and keeps the phone speedy.
  • The Vivo X27 has an excellent one-day lifetime battery with fast charging.

Cons

  • The phone does not come with waterproofing.
  • The processor of this phone does not have a competitive edge in terms of the price range that it comes in.
  • The phone cameras are not satisfactory and provide washed out images.

The X27 is a decent phone, but it is not value for money. It falters in the competition that it arrives in and hence, is not recommended unless its appearance amazes you and the performance of a phone is not your top priority. Then, this phone can suit your needs.

Expert Opinion

Vivo X27 combines looks and substance keeping it classy and premium, though it falters in the competition due to its inflated price.

Display

The Vivo X27 comes with a 6.39 inches Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The screen is mostly bezel-less with only a slight chin, similar to the Mi 9. You get an immersive experience due to the lack of bezels. Plus, the Super AMOLED display reproduces accurate and beautiful colours, which give you vibrant depth in deep blacks. The brightness is quite good too, and you can view the phone outdoors as well.

Design

Vivo X27 comes with a classy design. It comes with Gorilla Glass covering its back and front. The back edges are curved so that you get a comfortable feel when you are holding this set. On the rear, the camera sits in a vertical module seamlessly in flux with the back panel. There is no camera bulge whatsoever. It does get a bit thick to 9mm. The phone back is a bit slippery because of the finish that the back gets. The back is light-sensitive – that is, it changes colours based on how the light falls on it, making it look ultra-premium. The volume rocker is clicky and well-placed on the right side along with the power button. The down key of the volume button is also customizable. The left side has an AI button which has limited customizability. On the top, you get the headphone jack along with the beautiful Pop-up selfie camera. The selfie camera has LED light strips which can be customized and looks brilliant. The phone has a USB Type-C port at the bottom along with a speaker. It does not have waterproofing, which is quite a poor decision from Vivo’s end. However, it has an in-display fingerprint scanner which works quite well.

Performance

The Vivo X27 gets its power from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, pairing it with an 8 GB RAM. Overall, the performance is extremely snappy. App-switching is fast, and there is no lag noticeable. Even during gaming performances, the phone continues to keep the speed up and so; you do not see any stutters. The performance levels are almost comparable to the Snapdragon 835, and that’s because the AI controls the phone performance well enough to keep it top tier.

Camera

The Vivo X27 comes with a triple camera set-up – a 48MP primary camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera and a 5MP depth sensor. In the daylight, the images come out quite good and detailed, but the colours appear a bit washed out. By default, the camera is put at 12MP but can be improved to 48MP only when the light conditions are right. In night times, the pictures appear grainy, but there is Night Mode included. Turning Night Mode on will lower the grain and brighten up the images. The ultra-wide camera works well, and there is a Super Macros Mode which clicks beautiful macros. The depth camera works with the primary or ultra-wide camera and has excellent edge-detection skills, delivering beautiful portraits.

In case of videos, the Vivo X27 can click 1080p videos at 60fps. 4K videos can be shot too but are limited to 30fps. You can shoot videos with the ultra-wide camera also but being a secondary camera, it drops down to 1080p only.

The phone has a 16MP pop-up camera which looks beautiful. It can click decent portraits and pleasant selfies. Recording videos is limited to 1080p at 30fps, which is ok but not great.

Battery

The Vivo X27 comes with 4000 mAh, non-removable battery. It’s an upgrade from the X23 which brought in a 3400 mAh battery. It can keep chugging for 7 hours on-screen time with the brightness is halved, which is quite a decent time. So, you can expect the phone to keep up for an entire day with light use. The Vivo X27 can charge up fast getting from 0 to 100% within an hour and a half.

Verdict

The Vivo X27 has a lot of things going for it. It has an excellent performance, fantastic design and a futuristic pop-up selfie camera. Along with all these, the phone has a great Super AMOLED bezel-free display for an immersive experience. Overall, the phone seems to be a recommended set, but the price of the phone is a tad bit on the higher end, making it not a value for money phone. Plus, the Mi 9 comes at a similar price range and packs the incredible Snapdragon 855 chipset, making it ultra-fast. If you are not into performance, then the Vivo X27 is a great phone to go for since it has a bulge-less design, unlike the Mi 9. However, better alternatives like Mi 9 exists.
