Xiaomi Redmi 9 is finally launched in India. It is a rebranded version of Redmi 9C and there’s a different phone with the same name available in the global markets. Xiaomi Redmi 9 Price in India

Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi 9 in India on August 27. It is a rebranded version of Redmi 9C and note that there’s already a different Xiaomi Redmi 9 available in the global markets. The price commences at a price tag of Rs.8,999/- for its entry-level 64GB+4GB RAM while the higher 128GB+4GB variant goes for sale at Rs.9,999/- starting at noon on August 31 on Amazon India and Mi.com. The phone will be available in retail stores and Mi Home stores at a later date.

Redmi 9 gets a design overhaul compared to its siblings in the global markets. The phone has an Aura Edge Design that uses a textured pattern on the back panel. This allows for a perfect grip while eliminating the chances of it contracting fingerprints such as on a glass back. The front has a pristine dot-notch design while the rear has nothing but a dual-camera setup with flash, an oval-shaped fingerprint scanner and that’s all. The phone arrives in three colour variants that are Sporty Orange, Carbon Black, and Sky Blue.

With Redmi 9, you can have a fully immersive viewing experience with its 6.53” HD+ IPS display with a dot notch for its front camera setup. It has a rich 720×1600 pixels resolution and since it has a small dot notch, doesn’t eat away precious screen real estate. The bezels are considerably slim and the chin is slightly thick. It has a wider 20:9 aspect ratio that makes it a great device for viewing media such as movies.

Redmi 9 in India packs in a MediaTek Helio G35 octa-core processor clocked at the highest frequency of 2.3GHz. The chipset is packed with HyperEngine Performance that dynamically optimizes GPU, CPU, and memory on the device. The processor outperforms Snapdragon 439 which falls in the same price range. The phone has a HyperEngine Game Technology that aids during a game on Redmi 9. It has 4+64GB and 4+128GB storage configurations that can be extended to over 512GB via a memory card.

About the software, Redmi 9 runs with Android 10-based MIUI 12 that grabs the features of both the worlds. As it is a Redmi device, it ought to get one major upgrade to Android 11.

Xiaomi Redmi 9 sports an AI dual rear camera setup that includes a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The front has a 5MP AI-backed sensor housed in a dot notch. The front camera excels in portrait shots that are aided by Xiaomi’s artificial intelligence for best bokeh effects. The rear camera setup takes it further by producing quality shots preserving all the details professing prowess as per its segment. The AI scene detection takes a lead in detecting perfect settings for any situation.

Xiaomi Redmi 9 gets a large 5,000 mAh battery producing a battery backup equivalent of 13.5 hours of gaming, 164 hours of music playback, or 37 hours of VoLTE calling on the go. The battery is larger than the market standard and has a charging cycle of 900 that means the battery doesn’t degrade until reaching the said charging cycle.

Xiaomi launched Redmi 9, the next device in its Redmi 9 series after the Redmi 9 Prime. It does bring an on-the-top smartphone at the price of Rs 8,999/- but it has made some considerable cutbacks from its global rebranded variant Redmi 9C. It does bring a powerful battery on-board with a decent processor that has been tweaked to squeeze out good performance at this price tag. You can go for Redmi 9 although don’t expect it to produce a mid-range performance for sure.
