Released in May 2018, Huawei Y6 Prime (2018) is available in three colours of Black, Gold and Blue. It has a decent design and average to below average features. For normal, daily usage without running a lot of heavy apps, this model should give a decent enough performance.
Huawei Y6 Prime (2018) how dimensions of 6 x 2.87 x 0.31 inches and weighs 150 grams. The display has a 2.5 D glass display with small, asymmetrical bezels on the top and bottom and slightly larger bezels at the sides. The back panel of the smartphone is made out of plastic and has a glossy finish to itself. The back of the phone has a camera, microphone and the rear mounted fingerprint sensor. This model has a good build, and sturdy yet fashionable design.
Y6 Prime has an S IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen of 5.7 inches with a pixel resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and 16 M colours. The screen has an aspect ratio of 18:9 with a PPI density of 282 and a screen to body ratio of 75.4%. The phone has a large display but is a little low on a sharp resolution. The brightness of the phone is average and is not ideal for use under direct sunlight. The display screen is average in resolution but has a good size.
This Huawei model runs on a Qualcomm MSM8917 Snapdragon 425 chipset with a processor of quad core 1.4 GHz Cortex A53 and a graphics chip of Adreno 308. It runs on the previous Android 8.0 Oreo and also has a EMUI 8 operating system. This model is available with either a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage or a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. The storage is expandable up to 256 GB through a dedicated micro SD card slot. This phone has a low performance processor and can handle normal tasks and apps well. But if you are trying to run multiple, large size apps, the phone will lag and the app functions will be rather slow. The phone is not equipped to handle heavy games. Y6 Prime will give a good performance if it has normal to moderate usage with lesser apps and no hard core gaming.
This smartphone has a rear camera of 13 MP which can record videos of 1080p at 30fps. The camera has an aperture of f/2.2 with phase detection autofocus. It is equipped with an LED flash, HDR mode and panorama mode. The front camera is of 8MP and has an LED light for low light pictures. The camera works well under good lighting and can produce average images. But under bad lighting, the images are dull. This Huawei model’s camera fails to stand out and is average.
Y6 Prime runs on a non-removable Li-ion 3000 mAh battery which can be charged with a micro USB 2.0 wire. It does not support fast charging. With moderate usage, the phone’s screen time is around 5 hours. It is at best an average battery performance. With heavy usage, the phone drains out even faster and it may require the user to charge the phone a couple of times in a day.
Y6 Prime passes off as an above average smartphone. It has a good display size, although the pixel resolution of the same could have been better. The camera features are not bad, but image resolution in low light could be worked upon. Its battery performance is low when under heavy usage and this model is equipped with the most basic processor. For a smartphone which will only have normal to moderate usage and not have a lot of heavy apps, the phone will give a good performance. But if you want a phone where you can run heavy apps, multitask and play games, you should look at other phones in the same price range.
