    About the Phone

The LG Q Stylus is a lightweight but durable model in terms of features and feel. It comes with a few pros and cons:

    • The LG Q Stylus arrives with a military-grade case that is protected from dust, shocks, and water.
    • The Stylus of the phone is well-seated in the case.
    • It has a beautiful display with adequate brightness to use in moderate sunlight.

    • It is a bit large and difficult to manage with one hand.
    • It can acquire scratches on its rear panel easily.
    • The LG Q Stylus has a weak performance especially when it comes to heavy gaming.
    • The phone has an inadequate battery runtime which may not last for the entire day.
    • The camera is below average and clicks images with a blurry background.

LG Q Stylus had the potential to be a great phone with its fantastic design, but it falters with weak internals. It is not a phone recommended for people looking for a power-packed performer. There are better phones in the market that serve the user well in terms of both usability and style.

Waterproof, scratch-free, and shockproof, the LG Q Stylus comes packed with brilliant craftsmanship. Priced at Rs. 14,990, it is a phone that makes many mid-range marvels appear pale in comparison.

However, looks are not everything that a phone should offer. The LG Q Stylus struggles when it comes to performance and battery. It is not a handy phone either. The LG Q Stylus can be a great model for someone looking for a robust smartphone with decent performance for basic tasks.

LG Q Stylus comes with a metal case which can only be discernible if you look along the edges. The back has an acrylic-style plastic which is vulnerable to scratches. Other than that, the phone is well-designed.

The transitions between materials are quite seamless though the volume buttons and power button do not sit completely secure. The LG Q Stylus case has been certified by military standard MIL-STD-810G making it shockproof. Plus, it is waterproof and dust resistant according to IP68.

The Stylus fits properly in a shaft. The phone is durable enough to survive a fall. The device is quite large and may require two hands to manage it properly. Other smartphones in this price range are smaller and easily manageable but do not come with water-proof, dust resistance or shockproof qualities.

The screen of the Q Stylus is about 6.2-inch IPS panel with resolution 2160×1080 pixels. There is no notch and small bezels, but the screen size is quite good. The colors are quite punchy and bright.

It offers a brightness of 441 cd/m², which is average, with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 getting 506  cd/m², and Pocofone F1 getting 486 cd/m², both easily beating the Q Stylus. The LG smartphone can be used outdoors as long as it is not placed under direct sunlight.

The problem is intensified with the shadows appearing on the screen. Plus, the IPS panel is quite wonderful and has solid viewing angles. Even at hard angles, there is no distortion of colours.

LG Q Stylus is powered with a MediaTek MT6750S and paired with ARM Mali T860 MP2. Plus, it comes with a 3 GB of RAM, making it a lower mid-range phone. The Android system runs well without creating an issue. However, benchmark scores put the LG Q Stylus at a weak 2798 points, which is easily beaten by 8874 points of Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Pocofone F1’s 9182. Plus, even Sony Xperia XA2 Plus gets 4152 points. Its performance is below average. The GPU performs fine when it comes to graphically less-demanding applications. Heavy games will have long loading times, and you have to lower settings if you want to experience gaming without stutters, though the FPS may be below 30. The touchscreen functions well, and position sensor responds quickly. In case of multiple apps, the phone works well and can handle app switching quite smoothly.

LG Q Stylus features a 16MP rear camera. It works fast and takes good pictures of specific objects.  However, the images may have a blurry background which makes the photo appear washed out. Macros are okay with less blur and high-details, but the colors do not appear punchy. The blur of the background remains and capture a lot of visual noise.

Low-light photos come out terrible. The details are hardly visible in the picture, and there is a lot of visual noise that gets captured.

In the front, the phone arrives with an 8MP camera. It takes mediocre portraits. The details and good and the image is sharp, but yet again the background becomes blurry making it appear washed out. Thankfully, you have several filters in the camera app to iron out the deficiencies.

The video works fine and takes similar quality videos as the still cameras. There is an image stabilization which balances out shakes. However, there is no mode for having control over recording settings.

The battery runtime of the 3,300 mAh battery that LG Q Stylus come with is below average. In real time, the battery lasts for about seven hours in Wi-Fi tests which is quite poor. Similar phones provide a runtime that is twice the Q Stylus, which will not last you an entire day even with light use.

However, there is a fast charger included with the phone though it does not charge as fast as expected. The battery gets juiced up completely in two hours from 0% to 100%.

The LG Q Stylus is a durable model. It provides excellent performance and can manage most of your essential tasks, though intensive games can be challenging to play. The cameras are just about okay and can click decent shots, but they tend to get blurry and washed out.

One of the shortcomings is the weak battery that the phone comes with. The Q Stylus is not a phone for intensive performance, but anyone looking for a reliable performer with durability can go for this phone.
